Midnight Bayou is one of four made-for-TV movies adapted from Nora Roberts' romance novels for the Lifetime channel in 2009 (along with Tribute, Northern Lights, and High Noon). Jerry O'Connell stars as lawyer Declan Fitzpatrick, who decides to buy a New Orleans mansion that captured his imagination when he was still a college student. After experiencing some ghostly visions, Declan comes to believe that his new home is haunted --and that he and a local Cajun beauty, Lena Simone (Lauren Stamile), are somehow connected to events that happened at the manor over 100 years ago. This supernatural romantic thriller features a supporting turn from screen legend Faye Dunaway as Lena's psychic grandmother, Odette. ~ All Movie Guide

A wife-mother learns that her too-friendly neighbor has more than barbecues on his mind in this fact-based TV movie. When Susan Wilson (Angie Harmon) and her family move back to her Louisiana hometown and into their dream house, they're a little overwhelmed by their eager-to-please neighbor, Steve Glover (Jamey Sheridan). Doing odd jobs, inviting them to use his hot tub, and initiating them into the social life of his Protestant church, Steve seems like the ideal friend. But when he starts offering unsolicited parenting advice, showing up in the Wilson's house when they're out of town, and exhibiting inexplicable knowledge of the family's secrets, Susan and her husband, Gary (Dale Midkiff), become concerned. Susan sneaks into the Wilson house and, to her horror, discovers videotapes of herself in the shower, on the toilet, and making love to her husband. Steve, it seems, is an electronic peeping Tom who installed cameras in the Wilson attic to provide himself with cheap visual thrills. After turning Steve in to the police, Susan is horrified to discover that what he did was not a crime and that he can be prosecuted only for unauthorized entry. Even worse, the elders of her church seem more interested in sweeping the issue under the rug than in providing comfort to Wilson, her husband, and her kids -- even after it's revealed that Steve took nude videotapes of various members of the congregation in the changing room next to his hot tub. Although she's so upset about the violation of privacy and the lack of support that she can't sleep anywhere but in her darkened closet, Susan eventually overcomes her depression and wages a campaign to make video voyeurism a crime. Based on a true story, Video Voyeur premiered on the Lifetime cable network in January 2002. The real-life Susan Wilson makes a cameo appearance in the film; her legislative activism resulted in the 1999 passage of a Louisiana state law that has been adopted in several other states. ~ Brian J. Here's something you don't see every day: A romantic comedy about chemotherapy. Kate Nelligan stars as Kathryn McClain, a judge undergoing treatment for cancer. In the midst of this crisis, Kathryn somehow finds time to hold down her job full time, and to renew her love for her long-estranged former husband Tom Ainsworth (Ron Silver). The question eventually boils down to this: Even if Kathryn survives, will her relationship with Tom be as fortunate? Best line: "Don't be so dramatic! You aren't dead yet! This paranoid Australian thriller from director Gideon Amir concerns the theft of a dangerous device by evil scientist James Hughes (Jon Cypher). The inventor, Eddie Powers (Edward Albert), teams up with a researcher (Leigh Taylor-Young) to prevent its sale on the global-arms market. Like most of its ilk, this film posits a noble scientific goal (in this case, a revolutionary brain-surgery tool) resulting in near-catastrophe, but it is at least well-made and competently acted by its veteran cast. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

This is a very macho action film in which the good guys are just that "guys". Col. Cooper (David Carridine) has been captured by the North Vietnamese and wheels and deals his way out of this predicament with the sleazy Vietnamese commandant, Capt. Vinh (Mako). Vinh agrees to let Cooper and the other P.O.W.s leave if Cooper will take Vinh and his ill-gotten gains back with them to the United States. Cooper agrees, and then has to struggle with the ever-frustrating Sparks (Charles R. Floyd), who thinks he knows better than anyone else about how to escape from the camp. The motley crew set off into the jungle, encountering the enemy and a very uncooperative Mother Nature along the way. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In this political drama, Hannah Kaufman, a Jewish-American attorney, must defend Selim Bakri, a young Palestinian suing Israel for the right to live on his Left Bank ancestral land.
