A horror film set in a New York nightclub, Midnight Cabaret is the story of an actress (Laura Herrington) suspected of killing several of her cast-mates. This low-budget fusion of erotic vampire tale and hard-boiled detective thriller pits Roger Sutter, a tough-as-nails, Dirty Harry-style L.A. detective (Jason Williams, who also directs) against Victor Radkoff, a strange and charismatic pop psychologist (Gustav Vintas). Sutter is convinced of Radkoff's role in a spate of gruesome murders, and he soon takes on the mantle of vampire hunter in pursuit of his elusive suspect. Bucking the annoyances of standard police procedure, he sets out to destroy Radkoff before he can transform his next target, a concert pianist (Leslie Milne), into his undead bride. Though Williams owes a sizable creative debt to Hammer's Count Yorga: Vampire, this is still an entertaining and sexy tale, kept afloat by interesting characters and good performances. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

With a title like Assault Of The Killer Bimbos, the viewer gets pretty much what he or she would expect: a dumb-but-hip instant cult favorite that knows - and revels in - its limitations. Christina Whitaker and Elizabeth Kaitan are the two lead, er, bimbos, who are working as go-go dancers in a dead-end nightclub when their boss is murdered. When the two girls are accused of the crime, they hit the road for Mexico, picking up yet another bimbo along the way, along with three beach bums, and engaging in various adventures as they attempt to expose the real killers. First-time director Anita Rosenberg delivers a certain amount of wit, getting the most out of her low-rent cast, and the film's self-awareness goes a long way toward making it more palatable than one might expect. ~ Don Kaye, All Movie Guide

The Naked Cage offers a glimpse of the stark realities of prison life while at the same time acknowledging the issue of prison corruption. Young and naïve Michelle (Shari Shattuck) has just been thrown in the slammer for a bank heist she definitely did not commit. The inmates warn her about the warden (Angel Tompkins), whose lesbian lifestyle is forced on inmates of her choosing. No one has to warn Michelle about the guard who rapes and kills the inmates, or about the woman who framed her and is now also in jail. These three threats to Michelle's inherent virtue are nothing she can fight off alone, and so some new characters step into the picture to help tip the scales. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
