Unlike his sleazy, anti-erotic Dark Bros. porn films, director A. Gregory Hippolyte's mainstream efforts tend to be sleek, stylish, and erotic like this popular item, a kinky thriller based on a true story. Maxwell Caulfield (Grease 2) plays a voyeuristic cop, and Shannon Whirry is his neglected wife. They start bringing home tricks from a classified ad, and Whirry plays with them while Caulfield covertly observes via hidden camera from another room. At first it appears that the couple has solved their marital problems, but things get ugly when one of sleazy bar owner David Carradine's goons answers an ad and gets dirt on the heroes. Caulfield is forced to videotape his wife with Carradine's political rival (Jan-Michael Vincent) in order to protect himself. The angry Caulfield then tries to turn the tables on Carradine, who is blackmailing him, and ends up marked for murder. A solid genre entry, silkily photographed and filled with familiar faces and great bodies, Animal Instincts is one of the more entertaining entries in a seemingly endless cycle, and was followed by two sequels. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Jo finds work as an assistant to a photographer, Eric (Al Sapienza), who works for a skin magazine. Softcore porn auteur Gregory Hippolyte directed this thriller featuring plenty of female nudity and starring Nick Cassavetes, son of famed indie director John Cassavetes. Beverly Hills shrink Dr. Jonathan Brooks (Cassavetes) seemingly has everything to lose: wealth, a successful practice, and a beautiful lawyer fiancée, Jennifer (Diana Barton). There's a serial killer on the loose in L.A., so Brooks is helping his cop friend Harry Reams (Richard Roundtree) compile a psychological profile of the murderer. Brooks is also treating an interesting new patient, Laura (Shannon Whirry), a shy hooker who transforms under hypnosis into a completely different woman, the seductive Lana. Brooks has a torrid affair with the irresistible Lana, but he's getting more than he bargained for. Lana steals the videotapes of her "sessions" with the good doctor and blackmails him with the damning evidence, destroying Brooks' life in the process. In the meantime, Harry closes in on a biker (Don Swayze) who might be the killer -- and the suspect has a connection to Lana. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

One of America's bravest military men finds himself pushing the limits of his abilities in this action-thriller. Senator Stuart Davis (David Hedison), a U.S. Congressman running for president, is travelling to the Balkins, hoping to speak with political leaders there to stop a civil war that threatens to become a major conflict. While on board, Davis decides to check out a computer disc which was handed to him shortly before his flight took off, and to his surprise, he discovers it contains damning evidence which proves Vice President Pike (Cliff Robertson), who is facing off against Davis in the upcoming election, is the leader of a secret plan to encourage the war in the Balkans so that American arms dealers will be able to sell weapons to both sides. It isn't long before Pike learns that Davis knows his secret and he's willing to use his power and his agents to bring down Davis' flight (and the innocent civilians on board) to cover his tracks. One of Davis' passengers is Capt. Jack Tyree (Brian Bosworth), an Air Force anti-terrorism expert, and it becomes obvious it's up to him to fight off Pike's goons and bring the jetliner safely to the ground. Steven Seagal plays a good if troubled man living in a corrupt world (sound familiar yet?) in this action drama. Gino Felino (Seagal) is a cop who grew up in a tough Brooklyn neighborhood, and while many of his old friends now live on the other side of the law, he retains a fierce loyalty to the community.
