In this sports-oriented drama, Art Long (Dennis Quaid), a loser as a country singer, starts competing in local fist-fight matches in order to bring home a little extra cash -- and is caught up in his successes enough to continue on to the big national finals. Predictable from the first round onwards, Long is supported by his wife (Carlene Watkins), his father (Wilford Brimley), his mother (Fran Ryan), his friends, his fight promoter (Warren Oates) and just about everyone except his opponents in the ring. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

After sixteen years of cinematic retirement, Roy Rogers made a surprise return before the cameras in Mackintosh & T. J. Rogers plays Mackintosh, an ageing, tale-spinning ranch hand who befriends T.J., a sullen young boy (Clay O'Brien). The film is low-key, like Rogers himself, and Rogers' faithful fans were gratified to watch him thrash several younger cowpokes who goad him into a fight. Waylon Jennings provides the C&W musical score. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In this countrified comedy, a pair of hell-raisin' bootleggers try to get revenge upon the moonshiners who plugged their Grandpappy. They also try to get their latest batch of corn-squeezin's to Memphis before their rivals. Look carefully for a young Jaclyn Smith. When she became a star in the television show Charlie's Angels a short time later, this film was retitled Bootlegger's Angel. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
