2002

Originally slated for a fall 2001 premiere, the weekly half-hour cartoon series Teamo Supremo joined ABC's "One Saturday Morning" weekend lineup on January 19, 2002. Evidently inspired by the popular animated offering Powerpuff Girls, the series focused on the adventures of a team of kiddie superheroes: the brainy Crandall, aka Captain Crandall; the macho Hector, aka Skate Lad; and the sensible Brenda, aka Rope Girl. As they made their way through various "retro-futuristic" backgrounds, the Teamo Supremo fought a variety of campy villains (voiced by celebrities, in the tradition of the old Batman live-action series) to preserve the standard values of Truth, Justice, and the American Way -- so long as it didn't interfere with their homework. Like virtually all of ABC's cartoon shows, Teamo Supremo was produced by Disney. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
