Natasha Gregson Wagner Movies

The daughter of screenwriter Richard Gregson and legendary actress Natalie Wood, Natasha Wagner (also known as Natasha Gregson Wagner) has become recognized as an actress in her own right. Born on September 29, 1970, in Los Angeles, Wagner was six months old when her parents divorced. Her mother next married actor Robert Wagner, who later adopted Natasha.
Wagner began appearing onscreen in the early '90s, taking supporting roles in such films as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) and S.F.W. (1994). In 1997, she earned recognition for her portrayal of one of Robert Downey Jr.'s girlfriends in James Toback's Two Girls and a Guy. That same year, she starred in David Lynch's Lost Highway and First Love, Last Rites, which cast her opposite Giovanni Ribisi. Wagner closed out the century with appearances in a number of obscure films that tended to cast her as troubled young women; she changed gears in 2000 with a supporting role in High Fidelity, Stephen Frears' adaptation of Nick Hornby's comedic novel about a record store owner (John Cusack) trying to confront his own adulthood.

This grim psychodrama presents an intensely disturbing profile of the needlessly empty lives of Generation X-ers, modern youths from wealthy backgrounds living aimless lives fraught with unfounded despair. Featuring a largely non-professional cast and set within the Hollywood entertainment industry, the various lives of the characters are linked by a young woman's murder. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In this drama about juvenile delinquents on the prowl, Johnny (Mark Dacascos) is a parking attendant who wants better things out of life, and isn't above bending the law to get them. Johnny also has his eyes on Laura (Natasha Gregson Wagner), a beautiful girl with a fast car, but he soon finds out the hard way that working class Latinos who date upper-crust white girls are not looked upon kindly by much of the community. Dragstrip Girl is a in-name-only remake of the 1957 Fay Spain vehicle of the same name; it was produced for the Showtime premium cable network as part of their "Rebel Highway" series (consisting of remakes of classic teen exploitation films from American-International Pictures. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Embracing the supposed nihilism and cynicism of the "slacker" generation, S.F.W. (1995) caused nary a blip on the media-saturated cultural radar screen that it criticized. Stephen Dorff stars as Cliff Spab, an aimless, hard-drinking youth. Spab becomes a national hero when he is one of several people held hostage by gun-toting terrorists in a convenience store. He doesn't care much about his own life or anything else, and his attitude of "So f---ing what?" translates into debates with his terrorist captors and gloomy pronouncements that charm viewers. After a month-long siege, a crisis erupts when the store runs out of beer and junk food, so Cliff finds himself a free man whose celebrity image is emblazoned on t-shirts and whose presence is requested at a rock concert where he is required to do nothing other than appear. In the meantime, Spab's girlfriend Wendy (Reese Witherspoon) becomes a ubiquitous talk show guest. Ostensibly a satire of the celebrity-obsessed culture of the 1990s, the film was withheld from distribution for a year because of thematic similarities to Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers (1994). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

The idea of fusing teen sex-comedy and horror genres into a boffo box-office bonanza seems like classic braindead Hollywood-think... but somehow, beyond all reason, the makers of this film manage to pull it off. Much of the credit goes to director Fran Rubel Kuzui (Tokyo Pop) who chooses wisely to let the jokes and action rip by so quickly that viewers won't have time to realize there's practically nothing going on. Also excellent is Kristy Swanson as the bubble-headed cheerleader who learns from a Van Helsing-ish stranger (Donald Sutherland) that she's, like, the reincarnation of this pure female warrior and stuff, destined to rid the world -- or at least the Valley -- of vampires. No sooner is the Buffster being schooled in the ways of vampire butt-kicking (much to the consternation of meek pretty-boy beau Luke Perry) than the lead vampire (Rutger Hauer) and his leering cronies show up -- and leading up the pack is none other than Pee-Wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens. Fans of this film's popular TV offspring will appreciate the fang-sharp humor but may be surprised to find little evidence of the spooky atmosphere that permeates the series -- though there are some inspired moments, particularly the ridiculous death-by-ruler scene. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
