If your idea of a "bus picture" is It Happened One Night, the Spanish Bus Station will prove quite an eye-opener. There's the usual cross-section of passengers, all strangers at first, friends afterward. And there are quite a few amazing adventures en route, some of them hair-raising. The main drawing card of the story is sex--sex performed on and off the road by the temporary denizens of the bus station and bus. No "walls of Jericho" in this one. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Following on the heels of its popular 1983 precursor, this second installment of "El Milusos" continues the Sad Sack character of the widowed Transito (Hector Suarez) and his losing misadventures in the low-end job market. "El Milusos" is Transito's nickname, meaning a "Jack-of-all-trades" because he tries his hand at anything to get ahead. He leaves his young son and his farm behind him to seek his fortune in a large, run-down barrio of Mexico City where he does everything from selling tacos, to waiting tables, to boxing, and he even tries a stint as an illegal alien in the U.S. His karma is such that he misses out on the breaks that happen to others, yet he does so with a comic style and innocence that can be admired. Although the storyline is uneven and not above lecturing at times, the misadventures of Transito are laced with a steady dose of humor that should entertain most audiences.

The humor in this Mexican social comedy has more to do with the aptly depicted characters shown than with the story. When Enfermio (Manolo Faregas) takes his family on an outing, he encounters every possible calamity. A group of unconnected lotharios almost romance his wife and his daughter away from him, he encounters a military man who is a little too ready to draw his gun at the slightest provocation, and his mother manages to eat herself to death. This last event leads to a macabre drive through town, as he takes his family, including the propped-up corpse of his mother, back home. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

- Manolo Fábregas, Lucha Villa, (more)
