Alain Delon produced, directed, co-wrote, and starred in this story about a solitary thief, jailed for a jewel robbery and the murder of the jeweler, and set free after serving his prison term. His objective is to get his hands on the stolen jewels before a crowd of gangsters reaches them and/or kills him, and before the police can catch up with him again. A woman who can no longer bear abusive treatment from her husband, takes off and goes to live in Barcelona where she starts up a relationship with another man. Just as her husband has located her through a detective, he meets with a horrendous accident on the way to the airport and ends up back home from the hospital, wrapped in bandages due to his burns and completely disfigured. His wife arrives from Barcelona, but not in time to see him before he dies. Then the oddest things start happening. Furniture flies through the air, weird lights come and go, and a myriad of supernatural phenomena make it readily apparent that the dead husband is out to "get" his wife for her extra-marital affair. A priest and an expert in the paranormal are called in to help, but to no avail. The husband's body is disinterred - though that does not seem to help either. La Redada, a low-budget Spanish language thriller also released as Barcelona Kill, is the story of a female journalist and her boyfriend who inadvertently get involved with murder and mayhem and must run for their lives pursued by the Barcelona Mob. Directed by Jose Antonio de la Loma, La Redada is a typical crime mystery with little new to offer. Spoofing local "true love confessions," this Spanish comic farce/melodrama tells the stories of a middle-aged resident of Madrid (Jacques Dufilho) and of a pregnant young woman from the countryside who longs for stardom. The man answers a personal ad in the newspaper, has a liaison with the already pregnant girl, and winds up raising her baby. She leaves him after the baby is born, and becomes a big star. The man sees her once more as she is performing as the headliner at a nightclub, but she dies onstage. Italian horror icon Riccardo Freda directs I Spit on Your Grave star Camille Keaton in this gory shocker concerning four hippies who seek shelter from a summer storm in a seemingly-abandoned villa, only to realize that they have stumbled into a satanic sacrifice. Frightened away by the gruesome orgy of violence, the hippies waste no time in beating a hasty retreat. The private eye hired by a jealous husband comes to the rescue of the wife in this Spanish/Portuguese thriller/melodrama. The wife is married to a wealthy but often-absent business tycoon and has grown bored with her lot. She seeks affection and entertainment from an international playboy. When the husband grows suspicious, he hires a private eye to find out what is up. The detective reports her entanglement to the husband, who promptly goes to the playboy's yacht, slits his throat, and imprisons his wife in his country mansion. This shoot-em-up is set in Valencia, Spain at the end of the 19th century, and stars Terence Hill as a close-mouthed gunslinger. The bad guy in this case is the local landlord and aristocrat (Fernando Rey), who horribly abuses the laborers in his community. Romantic interest is provided by Maria Grazia Bucella, as the local inn-keeper. Forntunata (Emma Panella) is the working class girl employed in a market place who falls for the wealthy Juan (Maximo Valverde). His family discourages the relationship, and he yields to pressure by marrying Jacinta (Liana Orfei), daughter of a wealthy noble. The heartbroken Fortunata tries to win Juan back, but she relents and marries another man. He meets her again after many years and they rekindle their affair. For Juan, it is merely another sexual conquest, but Fortunata carries the memory of their affairs in her heart for the rest of her life in this romantic drama of unrequited love.
