The Standard Operating Procedure of those anonymous young lovelies chosen as Playboy's Playmate of the Month is to make an extremely brief flurry of au naturel movie appearances before rapidly fading into the sunset. Such was not the case of very blonde, very buxom Shannon Tweed. After being anointed Playmate of the Month and Playmate of the Year, the Canadian-born Tweed was able to sustain her film career for nearly two decades. Her come-hither looks, cascading blonde hair, and divine figure admittedly contributed to her durability, but her strongest suit was her genuine acting ability and willingness to poke fun at her image. The actress offered a comedy performance worthy of a Colbert or Lombard as the fetchingly undraped star of the Apocalypse Now spoof Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1990), while she was consistently superior to her material (and most of her co-stars, female and male) in the Night Eyes and Indecent Behavior films of the 1980s and 1990s. Somewhat more modestly garbed in her television appearances, Tweed has been a regular on the daytime soaper Days of Our Lives, the nighttime serial Falcon Crest (1981-1982 season only, as Diana Hunter), and the raunchy cable-TV sitcom First and Ten. In 1991, she starred as air-service proprietor Sally "Slick" Monroe on the diverting Canadian TV adventure weekly Fly By Night, which ran in rerun form on CBS until 1993. Like the victims, Detective McBain is blonde, forcing her to wonder about the intentions of Blue (John Enos), a man she finds herself falling for. India Allen, Playboy's 1988 Playmate of the Year, wrote and produced this sexy western romp. In 1886, Velvet (Shannon Tweed), a prostitute who has stumbled along some very dangerous information, and Sara (Deanna Brooks), a woman fleeing a man she has chosen not to marry, are both riding west on a stagecoach headed to San Francisco. The stage is hijacked en route by outlaw leader Poke (Daniel Murray), and soon Velvet and Sara find themselves at the mercy of Poke's gang, until they join forces with one of his gunslingers -- hard-as-nails cowgirl Mick (Julie Strain). Like India Allen, Shannon Tweed and Deanna Brooks both first gained fame as featured models in Playboy magazine. Marcus Roach (Sten Eirik) is a wealthy industrialist who was left paralyzed after an industrial accident. He's after a regeneration/strength serum held by inventor's son Billy Duncan (Joe Tab), who guards it with his life. The chemical is incapable of being broken-down, so killing Billy won't help, but the essence of the serum can be transmitted sexually. So, says Roach, "we have the key. All we need is the right keyhole". A-hem! Billy's been guarding his virginity from his cute girlfriend, Mary Anne (Kathy Griffin), and his lusty stepmother, Lorna (Shannon Tweed), so he won't make them superwomen. Roach realizes he's found the right keyholes, and has his super-strippers (who dress as cheerleaders at one point) kidnap the women. Mary Anne is put in a dungeon and the hypnotized Lorna has sex with Billy until he spills his super-seed, turning her into a fanged, electricity-shooting hellcat. Mary Anne pops the super-pill and rips a stripper's heart out, throwing it into another stripper's mouth, eventually battling Electra/Lorna while Roach tries to kill Billy with a flame-throwing wheelchair.
