The title of this TLC cable reality series referred to its star, country singer Tanya Tucker. In the company of her three children, Grayson, Presley, and Layla, Tucker was seen going about her daily routine both at home and at work. The show demonstrated the stern but loving manner in which Tanya oversaw her kids' domestic duties, and her take-charge attitude in the recording booth while putting together her newest album. Imbuing the series with dramatic thrust and tension was the fact that Tucker was making a career comeback after devoting a number of years and a considerable amount of energy to being a single mom. Refreshingly, no effort was made to depict the protagonist as infallible; throughout the 26-week series, she had to make a number of difficult decisions, not all of them the right ones, and at times she admitted that it was just "too much." Happily, the kids were always able to keep Tucker "grounded and on track," or so proclaimed the series' press release. Tuckerville was first telecast on October 8, 2005. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Jan-Michael Vincent stars as Kyle Richardson, who works at a dead-end job in a Texas chain-link fence factory. In the tradition of such earlier films as Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, Richardson enjoys himself only on weekends when he whoops it up with his buddies at the local saloon. His carousing exacts a toll on his relationship with Jodie Lynn Palmer (Kim Basinger, in her film debut). Finally, Jodie delivers an ultimatum: either settle down and get married, or she'll skeedaddle to California, there to try her luck as a country-western singer. Real-life C&W star Tanya Tucker co-stars as Jodie's best friend and role model. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Director Joel Schumacher makes like Robert Altman in the made-for-TV Amateur Night at the Dixie Bar and Grill. In the tradition of Altman's Nashville, Schumacher's film is a rambling, anecdotal study of an amateur talent show in a tawdry Southern saloon. The link between the two films is strengthened by the presence in Amateur Night of Henry Gibson, who'd played a Porter Wagoner type in Nashville. Among the contestants is country-western singer Tanya Tucker, who also contributed some of the background themes for the film's musical score. Amateur Night at the Dixie Bar and Grill was produced by Motown Industries' motion picture division. Sidebar: To improve ratings, the ad copy for this film was headlined "Disco Killer on the Loose!"--then, in smaller type, the copy explained that "killing" was merely a slang term for winning over the audience! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
