Chaos reigns in the Catskills in this low-budget teen comedy. Kavell (Michael Lembeck) and Bergman (Philip Casnoff) are college students who spend their summers working in the dining hall at Camp Oskemo, an upstate New York summer camp where they're the senior waiters. Serving food to bratty children doesn't interest them nearly as much as trying to make time with the female counselors at the camp, among them pretty but chaste Vicki (Lisa Shure) and attractive but significantly less virginal Evie (Fran Drescher). Kavell and Bergman also wage an annual war against the junior waiters with the help of deranged server Grossman (Dennis Quaid), but their real nemesis is Wallman (David Huddleston), the owner of the camp who makes no secret of his dislike for the waiters. Over the course of one eventful summer, Kavell, Bergman and their fellow food slingers dose the entire camp with amphetamines, taint the Kosher meals with pork, screen pornographic movies during Parent's Weekend, run a tank through the campgrounds and destroy the waiter's housing and most of what surrounds it. Hilarity, or something like it, ensues. While seemingly influenced by Meatballs, Gorp was actually shot at roughly the same time as Bill Murray's summer camp vehicle, though it was released nine months later. In this quiet though not quite bland semi-autobiographical look at his formative years, director Charlie Loventhal has his main character Charlie (Tim Choate) enrolled in the film school of a small college. But while Charlie has aspirations of making comedies, his classmates and pretentious film professor are all into more avant-garde work. He also aspires to losing his virginity, but the woman of his dreams is not interested. He continues to strike out in spite of coaching from his lothario roommate, until a psychology professor sets him up with an older woman -- all as a part of a research project -- and Charlie, the guinea pig, finally becomes a man of experience. Meanwhile, he has made friends with Wendy (Wendy Fulton), another loner, and the two team up to try for the top prize at the school's annual film festival. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Out of the Darkness recreates the terrifying 13-month (1976-77) period when the serial killer known as "Son of Sam" held New York in a grip of terror. Martin Sheen plays real-life police officer Ed Zigo, a veteran "negotiator" who joins the Son of Sam task force in hopes of weeding out the elusive killer. Sheen's personal problems, including the illness and death of his wife (Jennifer Salt) somehow do not impede his ability to pursue his investigation. The vital clue in the proceedings is a discarded parking ticket. The made-for-television Out of the Darkness was first screened October 12, 1985. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Wealthy metallurgist Harry Mitchell (Roy Scheider) lives to regret his extramarital affair with pretty young Cini (Kelly Preston). A trio of vicious blackmailers (John Glover, Robert Trebor, Clarence Williams III) show Mitchell a videotape of his most recent roll in the sack with Cini. They demand a huge amount of hush money, but Mitchell calls their bluff, going so far as to tell his politicially ambitious wife Barbara (Ann-Margret) about the affair. But the extortionists haven't even gotten started yet. Tying Mitchell to a chair, they force him to watch a tape of Cini being horribly murdered-with the evidence arranged so that Mitchell will be accused of the crime. But Mitchell remains firm in his refusal to pay up, whereupon he mounts a "fight fire with fire" plan all his own. 52 Pick Up was based on a novel by Elmore Leonard, which was previously filmed in 1984 as The Ambassador. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A young man named Kaz (Scott Valentine), afflicted with the curse of turning into an animal at the least sign of sexual arousal, tries to remain friends with a girl he's just met (Michelle Little). Murphy's tough and relentless interview technique has a somewhat negative effect on a corrupt judge (John Capodice), who drops dead right in mid-telecast. Traumatized by this tragedy, Murphy is terrified to conduct any more interviews, meaning that her usefulness to "FYI" may be at an end. Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren play archenemies from beyond the grave in this action film. During the Vietnam War, Luc (Van Damme), hoping to be sent home, comes upon blood-crazy Scott (Lundgren), who is starting a one-man genocide program. When Luc tries to stop Scott's carnage, Scott fights back and they end up killing each other. But now the government gets involved, cryogenically freezing their corpses and using their bodies in a secret government project call "UniSols" --turning the dead men into android fighting machines. Luc and Scott are now metallic fighting members of a robot SWAT team. But Luc begin to have flashbacks to the final moments of his life in Vietnam, as does Scott, who recalls that one of his final thoughts was to kill Luc. Meanwhile, a snoopy reporter named Veronica (Ally Walker) stumbles upon the secret of the UniSols, and soon Luc is trying to save both himself and Veronica from the wrath of Scott, who is trying to kill them both. All of the action culminates in a wild chase between a prison bus and a UniSols van, racing around hairpin turns on desert precipices. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) takes on a rampaging Cyclops (Richard Moll) who is seemingly in cahoots with our hero's treacherous stepmother, the goddess Hera. Along the way, Hercules picks up a traveling companion in the form of shabby traveling salesman Salmoneus (Robert Trebor). After joining forces to defeat their common enemy, Hercules and Salmoneus discover that the Cyclops is not exactly the heartless villain he seems to be -- and that there are two sides to every conflict. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Now fighting side by side as allies rather than enemies, Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and Xena (Lucy Lawless) do battle against mutual enemy Darphus (Matthew Chamberlain), who has risen from the dead to wreak more havoc. As usual, this resurrection is the handiwork of war god Ares, who is using Darphus to harvest meat for Ares' vicious man-eating dog, Graegus. Hercules' friend, Iolaus (Michael Hurst), wants to join the fight against the villain, but he has no good reason to trust Xena. Things come to a head when Darphus kidnaps Salmoneus (Robert Trebor) to lure Hercules into a trap. This final episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys' first season neatly sets the stage for episode one of the spinoff series Xena: Warrior Princess. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Wrapping the greedy King Midas (Noel Trevarthen) around her little finger, the beautiful but treacherous Voluptua (Jennifer Ward-Leland) uses Midas' vast wealth to establish the Touch of Gold gambling palace. Upon realizing that the palace is actually a shrine to corruption and evil, Midas demands that it be destroyed, only to be locked up by Voluptua's minions. It is up to Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) to free the repentant Midas and foil Voluptua -- but first he is forced into a boxing match with the fearsome Segallus (Terry Batchelor) in order to rescue Midas' daughter Flaxen (Trac Lindsey), who has been strapped to an archaic booby trap. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

On his deathbed, Ceridian the Centaur (Tony Blackett) asks his favorite protégé, Hercules (Kevin Sorbo), to change the warlike ways of his least favorite protégé, the centaur Cassius (Julian Arahanga). Unfortunately, Cassius' ire has been aroused by the bigoted, anti-centaur magistrate Gredor (John McKee). Hercules intervenes when Gredor, hoping to spark a full-scale war between the humans and the Centaurs, tries to frame Cassius for murder. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) offers to help the revived mummy of Prince Ishtar (Mark Newnham) to locate his descendant, Princess Anuket (Galyn Gorg). Meanwhile, villainous high priest Sokar (John Watson) has gotten hold of Ishtar's golden pendant, with which he hopes to gain complete control of Egypt.
