Directed by the prolific Rob Zombie, The Devil's Rejects is a sequel of sorts to 2003's House of 1000 Corpses, and picks up several weeks after House left off. This time, the clash revolves around the tribe of violent lunatics and decidedly valueless family members of the original film, who have come to be known as the "Devil's Rejects." After learning of the extended family's horrific attacks, a SWAT team is sent to take them into custody; all but their crazed Mama escape. In addition to creating a full-fledged media circus, this sends the sociopath housemates on the run, and they initiate a deadly road trip. Meanwhile, Mama has to deal with a violent, vengeful sheriff (William Forsythe). The world's most obnoxious celebrity talk-show host demonstrates how he rose to mediocrity in this pungent show business satire. Jiminy Glick (Martin Short) is a corpulent entertainment reporter who is looking to kick his career into high gear. Hoping to snag some celebrity interviews, Jiminy and his wife, Dixie (Jan Hooks), head north of the border to Canada, where Jiminy will attend the Toronto Film Festival. At first, Glick's attempts to ingratiate himself with stars and semi-stars are little short of disastrous, but after the easily star-struck reporter allows egocentric filmmaker Ben DiCarlo (Corey Pearson) to shamelessly self-promote his latest project on air, word gets around that Glick is an "easy interview," and his star begins to rise. However, Jiminy's good fortune is tempered by his unwitting involvement in a murder plot centered around booze-addled actress Miranda Coolidge (Elizabeth Perkins) and her wildly pretentious husband, Andre Devine (John Michael Higgins). Somewhere along the way, filmmaker David Lynch (played by Short) happens along, offering his theories on the controversial murder of Lana Turner's paramour Johnny Stompanato. A large number of Hollywood celebrities make cameo appearances in Jiminy Glick in La La Wood, including Steve Martin, Kevin Kline, Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, Forest Whitaker, Kiefer Sutherland, and Sharon Stone. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Forsaking the series' standard historical trappings, this episode takes place in 1999 A.D. A woman named Annie (Lucy Lawless), whose favorite TV series is (what else?) Xena: Warrior Princess, becomes convinced that she is herself reincarnated from Xena (who, need we add, is also played by Lucy Lawless). Her husband, Harry (Ted Raimi), who bears a striking resemblance to Xena's wanna-warrior friend Joxer, worries that Annie has lost her marbles. Harry consults a New Age psychologist named Mattie Merrill (Renee O'Connor) -- who is the living image of Xena's traveling companion, Gabrielle -- in hopes of finding out if Annie is just fantasizing. An expert in "past lives," Mattie begins probing her sources, and discovers some remarkable (and wholly unexpected) facts about both Annie and Harry. Originally slated to air in April of 1999, "Déjà Vu All Over Again" was ultimately rescheduled as Xena's fourth-season finale. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The somber fifth-season continuity of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is briefly interrupted with this comic episode spotlighting those lovable rapscallions Autolycus (Bruce Campbell) and Salmoneus (Robert Trebor). Stealing a magic lantern, the boys conjure up a sexy genie named -- what else? -- Jinni (Hilary Thompson). Alas, the curvaceous bottle imp can't seem to get any of the boys' wishes right -- .and besides, this is an exercise in "Be careful what you wish for." The highlight occurs when Salmoneus, unable to make up his mind what he wants from genie, is split into two halves: "Cry Baby Sal" and "Hyper Sal." ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Hercules and Iolaus do not appear in this episode (though actor Michael Hurst does show up -- in drag!), which amiably spoofs the 1959 Billy Wilder comedy Some Like It Hot. Falsely accused of murdering King Pholus, itinerant peddler Salmoneus (Robert Trebor) and "King of Thieves" Autolycus (Bruce Campbell) elude the authorities by donning women's clothing. In this guise, "Salmonella" and "Autolyca" join the Widow Twanky's all-girl dance troupe. Hoping to score points with "hootchi-coochie-jiggle-wiggle" dancer Cupcake (Lacey Kohl), Autolycus takes on a second false identity of wealthy Farciferous Van Baklava. Alas, Cupcake prefers eating to lovemaking -- but, oh well, nobody's perfect. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Summoned to help their peddler friend Salmoneus (Robert Trebor) prevent a war, Xena (Lucy Lawless) and Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor) find themselves in the middle of a beauty pageant -- organized by the selfsame Salmoneus. At first convinced that it's all a false alarm, our heroines soon learn that a war is indeed on the verge of breaking out between three local regents, each of whom has entered a sexy contestant in the pageant. Realizing that an unknown party is trying to foment the hostilities, Xena "dresses down" to pose as a contestant, with Gabrielle impersonating her sponsor. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Throwing rocks instead of lightning bolts, the mad King Augeus (Grant Bridger) believes himself to be Zeus. Taking advantage of the situation, the evil Hera offers to give Augeus genuine godly powers if he will agree to kill Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) before the sun sets. Already miffed that Augeus has rededicated her temple to Hera, love goddess Aphrodite (Alexandra Tydings) tries to prevent Hercules' demise. As for our hero, he doesn't know which way to turn when Augeus suddenly assumes the shapely form of Aphrodite. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Circumstantial evidence indicates that a man named Cassus (Lindsey Ginter) has slain an entire family, but Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) wants the due process of law to determine the man's guilt or innocence. While fleeing a lynch mob, Hercules and Cassus are trapped in a mineshaft, where Cassus is pinned under a boulder. It is up to Iolaus (Michael Hurst) to locate the one person who can determine if the dying Cassus is really a murderer -- and that person is the condemned man's own son. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Deon (David Drew Gallagher), son of love goddess Aphrodite, awakens one morning to find that he wields awesome powers. This metamorphosis is a gift from his father Jacobus (Bruce Phillips), who conceived Deon during a one-night stand with Aphrodite. Disliking and disrespecting Jacobus, Deon foolishly elects to use his powers to benefit his Uncle Karis (Grant Bridger) -- all the while refusing to accept the fact that Karis is a bandit. Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor) poses as Xena (Lucy Lawless) when the later is felled by a poisoned dart while trying to protect traveling peddler Salmoneus (Robert Trebor). Gabrielle's first task -- to save a village from a warlord. The assignment is made doubly difficult when Gabrielle hears that Xena has died. Hoping to avert a war between the Spartans and the Eleans in the village of Propontus, Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and Atalanta (Cory Everson) organize a series of peaceful athletic competition. Ever angling for a profitable publicity stunt, itinerant peddlar Salmoneus (Robert Trebor) comes up with an enticing name for the upcoming event: The Olympic Games. Spoiling the spirit of fair play is the very unsportsmanlike -- and very deadly -- Tarkon (Chris Bailey), who, with the aid of war god Ares, is determined to win the games no matter what the cost in human lives. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Nemis the Centaur (Cliff Curtis) is given the opportunity to avenge the death of his twin brother at the hands of Hercules (Kevin Sorbo)--who is at this moment en route to a wedding in the town of Nespa. Since Nemis also covets the bride Penelope (Jacqueline Collin), he looks forward not only to killing Hercules but claiming Penelope for himself. Upon his arrival, Hercules agrees to take on Nemis and his friends in a "friendly" game of combat--only to be rendered blind by the duplicitous Lyla, the girlfriend of one of Nemis's Centaur cronies. Lucy Lawless, later cast as warrior princess Xena, is seen as Lyla. This episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys contained the first of the series' semi-satirical disclaimers ("No Centaurs were harmed during the production of this picture"). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and his cousin Iloran (Dean O'Gorman) are determined to put an end to plundering and pillaging of warrior princess Xena (Lucy Lawless). As it turns out, however, the real villain of the piece is not Xena, but instead her treacherous lieutenant Darphus (Matthew Chamberlain). When Xena unexpectedly shows compassion in battle, Darphus accuses her of being unfit to lead her minions, forcing her to run the deadly Gauntlet ritual.
