An indie Gen-X film recalling the The Big Chill (1983), this movie concerns a group of friends in their late 20s who are still working out what they want to be when they grow up. Ally, a fledging filmmaker, jumps from one temp job to another; her boyfriend Ben works as a consultant, though he wants both a more permanent job and a relationship; and their friend Jane is a gynecological model, stripper, and entrepreneur. All of the characters suffer from an overabundance of choice. Fearing that they will make the wrong one, they instead shuttle from one temporary job to the next. Only when Ally dares to risk failure does she find the means of success. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

In this independent feature directed by Fritzi Horstman, a group of 20-somethings stage their own 1990s version of The Big Chill by engaging in a frenzied weekend of bed-hopping. Ali (Frederika Keston) is a young woman who has more romantic opportunities than she can cope with. During the course of a few nights, she and her two female roommates find themselves visited by old and new male friends, including Ali's current lover, two of her former boyfriends, and a wisecracking, brooding poet. The revelers themselves make reference to the similarity of their roundelay to the action in The Big Chill. Ali becomes increasingly disoriented and incapable of choosing the right romantic path. Horstman wrote the script and produced the low-budget indie film, which was her feature debut, in 1997. ~ Michael Betzold, All Movie Guide

The further misadventures of bumbling Los Angeles police Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) are chronicled in this third installment in the popular Naked Gun comedy series. This by-the-numbers entry begins with Drebin as a happily retired house-husband called back into action when an evil terrorist organization threatens Los Angeles. As in the other Naked Gun films, this plot is merely an excuse for an unhinged, rapid-fire succession of gags, ranging from satirical lampoons of cop movies to broad slapstick, all played with a perfectly straight face. Nielsen provides his familiar combination of complete witlessness and oblivious dignity as Drebin, and the film attempts to match the earlier Naked Gun films -- and the Police Squad! television series that inspired them -- in the number of jokes. However, the film proved less successful than its predecessors, as some viewers found that the freewheeling comic style of the earlier films had solidified into its own formula, now mildly entertaining but disappointingly predictable. ~ Judd Blaise, All Movie Guide
