When his cousin Lester (Dwayne L. Barnes) asks Gunn (J. August Richards) for help extricating himself from a deal to participate in a museum robbery, Gunn agrees. He poses as Lester, while Angel (David Boreanaz) kills and impersonates Jay-Don (Michael Hagy), a flashy Vegas vampire also in on the heist. The dynamic duo then pretend to work with a cabal of demons and criminal humans as they steal the Shroud of Rahmon, a supernatural totem dyed with the blood of seven virgins and capable of inducing madness in those who come into contact with it. Unfortunately, the madness envelops even the heroes; during the chaos, Angel apparently sucks the blood of Detective Kate Lockley (Elisabeth Rohm) when she arrives on the scene for a sting operation. Eventually, it turns out Angel was only pretending to have reverted to evil in order to keep from blowing his cover. By making the others think Kate was already dead, he saved her life. This comes in handy for Wesley (Alexis Denisof), who was apprehended by the authorities after being found standing over Kate's inert body. The criminals are finally defeated and the shroud destroyed, while Kate and Angel separately reminisce about his biting her. Meanwhile, everyone else adjusts to the short, choppy new hairdo Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) is sporting. In this teenage horror film, a young man avoids the hand of death, only to find that he can't get away from it so easily. On the way to Paris with his high-school French club, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a vivid premonition of the plane crashing and killing all its passengers. After Alex and some other passengers demand to be let off the flight, his premonition turns out to be true, and the jet explodes during takeoff. While the FBI is convinced that Alex was involved in some kind of foul play, the passengers who got off the flight are all dying in horrible ways, as if whoever determined that the passengers would perish is punishing those who cheated death. Season five of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys begins as Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and Iolaus (Michael Hurst) head to Sumeria, there to help King Gilgamesh (Tony Todd), who for reasons not yet known has been utterly ignored by the Olympian Gods. It soon becomes obvious that Gilgamesh is in league with the demonic Dahak--and tragedy is in store for Hercules. Anna Nicholas wrote and directed this independent feature set at a South Central LA mini-mall on the day Rodney King's attackers were acquitted (April 29, 1992). A multicultural cast of characters operate businesses at the mall, but fear of violence following the trial has prompted Korean landlord Kong to close the mall by having custodian/security guard Rodriego (Robert Villalobos) deny parking lot access due to "construction." Subtitled dialogue is in Korean, Swedish, Hebrew, Vietnamese, Farsi, and Spanish. Nicholas shot in 16mm color and black-and-white. An evil genie, the Djinn (Andrew Divoff), escapes from an ancient statue and wreaks havoc in this horror film from director Robert Kurtzman. The devious Djinn can regain human form permanently if he grants someone three wishes. The Djinn at first is trapped in a statue, which falls and cracks open when a drunken worker unloads it from a ship. The genie is inside a precious gem that a puzzled pawnbroker gives to university gemologist Josh (Tony Crane). The Djinn kills Josh, and Josh's friend and colleague Alexandra Amberson (Tammy Lauren), who had been resisting Josh's romantic advances, sets out to find the killer. She follows a trail of carnage, and she soon learns the truth about the genie from anthropologist Wendy Derleth (Jenny O'Hara). The Djinn presents itself to Alexandra, who resists his seductive offers to grant wishes, but then the fiend sets his sights on Shannon (Wendy Benson), Alexandra's younger sister. The genie makes his final stand to grant a third wish at a party where antiquities collector Anthony Beaumont (Robert Englund) is displaying the statue. ~ Michael Betzold, All Movie Guide

Simone (Jimmy Smits) clashes with an overenthusiastic detective who may have gathered incorrect evidence. Martinez (Nicholas Turturro) and Diane (Kim Delaney) team up to help a paraplegic woman who has been swindled. Not to be confused with the 1954 giant-insect film of the same name, the made-for-TV Them is more closely akin to the late-1960s television series The Invaders--and in fact, was produced as the pilot for an unsold sci-fi series of the 1990s. In order to save their own dying race, a band of aliens travels to earth, their to infiltrate and ultimate take over the planet by assuming human form. The viewer can be sure that the film's top-billed actors aren't aliens in disguise, but beyond that it is anybody's guess. If nothing else, Them can boast of better than average special effects, with the extraterrestrials moving with the speed of lighting (actually, they move with the lightning in a piggy-back fashion!) Tony Todd, previously cast as the 80-year-old Jake Sisko in the 1995 episode "The Visitor," guest stars as Worf's outcast brother Kurn. Having been exiled from the Klingon society because of Worf's allegiance to the Federation, Kurn begs Worf to kill him. Reluctantly, Worf carries out Kurn's request, but that is hardly the end of the story, or of Kurn himself. Written by Ronald D.
