Originally titled Art of Betrayal, the nightly, hour-long Wicked Wicked Games was the fourth of the fledgling MyNetwork's English-language "novellas." When the series was first announced, Sean Young was billed as the leading character, ruthless real-estate magnate Blythe Hunter, by the time filming commenced, Young had been replaced by former child actress Tatum O'Neal. 25 years after she and her twin sons were abandoned by her husband Theodore Crawford (Clive Robertson), who threw her over for a much wealthier woman, the now-powerful and influential Blythe set about to orchestrate an intricate and fiendish plan of revenge. Her scheme involved having her grown sons Josh (David Smith) and Aaron (Jack Krizmanich) insinuate themselves into the lives and hearts of Crawford's daughters Emma (Jessie Ward) and Brooke (Kate French), the better to marry the girls so that Blythe could gain full control of Crawford's business empire in general and his "Tides" racetrack in particular. Complications ensued when, digressing from the plan, Aaron fell for party-girl Brooke instead of sensible Emma, while Josh, a doctor who initially had no idea what his mother was up to, suddenly tumbled to the revenge plot. The enormous supporting cast was headed by Femi Emiola as Blythe's assistant Lani Walker, who may have had more on her mind than mere job security. A cop looking for a quieter way of life is thrown into the most dangerous crisis of his life in this thriller based on the novel by Robert Crais. Jeff Talley (Bruce Willis) used to be a hostage negotiator with the Los Angeles Police Department, but after a standoff goes horribly wrong, Talley moves himself and his family to a small, quiet town of Bristo Camino, where he serves as chief of police. When three young criminals attempt to steal a car from a wealthy accountant, the situation quickly spins out of control and the thieves are trapped inside the heavily fortified home, taking the accountant and his family hostage. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department soon arrives on the scene, and Talley eagerly hands over the situation to them, but when he unexpectedly finds himself in telephone contact with one of the children inside, he begins to suspect that the cops are in over their heads. After he's approached by a masked stranger who has an agenda of his own, Talley is forced to decide if he should protect the safety of the family in the house or his own wife and kids. Somewhere in San Francisco, Olya (Daphne Rubin Vega) is an exotic dancer who works at an upscale strip club. A mysterious woman who harbors numerous past lives, she lives with her lover Trisha (Ria Pavia), a novelist who is writing a book about none other than Olya. In her spare time, Olya engages in secret liaisons with Anna (Serena Scott Thomas), an advertising executive trapped in a stagnating marriage to Victor (Tony Denison). Victor, however, is no dummy and one day, after following his wife to her meeting, he confronts Olya. She has no idea who Victor is, but spontaneously engages in a liberating bout of open-air nookie with him, all of which she later relays to Anna, who is less than thrilled. Carson), brought to the party as the date of Vincey (Mitchell Anderson), quickly becomes a twosome with Javi (Eddie Garcia). Megan (Serena Scott Thomas) breaks up with her black lover Sarina (Cynda Williams) after Megan reveals her affair with Sarina's cousin Jered (Billy Wirth). With lesbian, gay, and straight interactions throughout, the film's framework leans toward Schnitzler's La Ronde (1900), as an assortment of characters talk directly into the camera to introduce other characters.
