In this actioner, a pair of ex-Green Berets use the skills they perfected in 'Nam to save the Pope from an assassin's bullet in Central America. The trouble is, the hit man is the veterans' former commanding officer who was captured in Asia and outfitted with a special microchip that lets him take orders directly from the Kremlin. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

A fast-lane fashion photographer comes to a remote tropical isle for a glamour shoot. He recruits one of the local girls for one of his photo spreads. Cameraman and model fall in love, and he makes plans to take her back to the States. Alas, the dictates of her tribe forbid her to do so. This loose reworking of 1931 film Tabu is consistently good to look at; the acting and dialogue is in the "less said the better" category.
PLOT 3: ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
An intelligence agent finds that he has become one of the hunted in this action-suspense drama. Tom (Max Thayer) is a CIA operative who is sent out to track down a former mercenary for questioning. After Tom's partner brutally beats the soldier-for-hire and an innocent bystander is shot, Tom learns the truth about his assignment -- the mercenary frequently worked for the CIA and has written a book exposing corruption within the organization which the Agency wants stopped. With the mercenary severely injured during the beating, Tom teams up with the man's sister, Janice (Shawn Hoskins), to help expose the truth about the CIA, but now they have to steer clear of the Retrievers, a secret intelligence organization set up to stamp out those whom the agency wants silenced. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

In this loose sequel to the earlier film No Retreat, No Surrender, young martial artist Scott (Loren Avedon) now living in Thailand, he has a Vietnamese girlfriend whose wealthy father would strongly disapprove of their liaison. When she is kidnapped after one of their dates, Scott seeks to rescue her. Enlisting the aid of his arms-dealing buddy Mac (Max Thayer) and pilot friend Terri (Cynthia Rothrock), he sets off into the jungles of Southeast Asia to confront the kidnappers. He confronts renegade Soviet front man Yuri (Matthias Hues), and the bad guys get their comeuppance in the usual scenes of martial arts mayhem, spiced with plenty of machine gun fire and explosions. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This martial arts action film is about Tom, a man conned into joining the CIA and then forced into fighting against it when his ethics lead him to protect those connected with an exposé of the agency. Danny has written the exposé and when he is taken into custody by the CIA, Tom sees his partner kill off an innocent witness -- and decides to join forces with Danny's side. From that moment onward, there are chase scenes and martial arts displays, as Tom and Danny's sister and the accusatory manuscript all fight for survival. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

A seat-of-the-pants militia attitude gets a boost from this conventional drama about the heroics of a teen son anxious to free his father from captivity in a small Middle Eastern nation. Doug's (Jason Gedrick) father is an Air Force pilot who was shot down on a mission near the border of an Arab country and is now held hostage. Failing adequate U.S. intervention causes a desperate Doug to enlist his school chums in a wild plan to essentially sneak away with two Air Force jets and take off on a mission to rescue his father. He convinces the veteran Chappy (Louis Gossett, Jr.) into flying one plane, while Doug himself flies another (he learned how to pilot from his father). Yes. If audiences believe all this, then the ending should come as no surprise either. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

- Louis Gossett, Jr., Jason Gedrick, (more)
