Somewhere amid the filmmakers' attempts to disorient the viewers of this film with the old movie-within-a-movie trick, it would seem they also got themselves completely lost in the process. The story opens with a false start, depicting an elderly woman being stalked by a faceless maniac (actually a scene from a retired special-effects artist's demo reel). The "real" story begins as the man's daughter (horror's head-spinning sweetheart Linda Blair) is waylaid by a band of hooligans en route to her dad's mountain cabin. This incurs the wrath of Blair's mutant brother, who lives in a hidden compartment within the cabin. As if that weren't enough, even more monsters from Blair's gnarled family tree show up for a lightning bonus round -- including Tab Hunter as a homicidal plastic surgeon. All is revealed (sort of) as yet another movie-within-a-movie, clear evidence of a writer in way over his head. An orphan grows up to become an Old West legend as the story of the Lone Ranger comes to the big screen in this western saga featuring Christopher Lloyd and Jason Robards. Orphaned as a young boy, John Reid struck up a lifelong friendship with a loyal Indian boy named Tonto. Years later, Reid has become a lawyer and returned to the west in order to ensure that vicious murderers such as the Cavendish gang are brought to justice. Having previously murdered Reid's parents, the Cavendish gang proves that they still rule this lawless land when they launch an ambush that leaves the lawyer serious wounded and his Texas Ranger brother dead. Nursed back to health by his old friend Tonto, Reid dons a mask and sets out to pursue justice anonymously atop his faithful horse Silver. His timing couldn't be better, either, because the Cavendish gang is about to carry out their most ambitious misdeed to date by kidnapping President Ulysses S. Grant (Robards). Upon learning that the president has been abducted by the most violent gang in the Wild West, the Lone Ranger sets out to settle an old score while rescuing the man who will steer the fate of a nation. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

According to the history books, the female Amazon warriors of Asia Minor often chopped off their breasts, the better to accommodate their bow-and-arrow weaponry. Rest assured that the anonymous Spanish and Italian starlets in Battle of the Amazons are in full possession of their principal attributes. Lucretia Love plays the Amazon queen, who assembles her forces when the bad guys invade their land. Love is aided in battle by the neighboring male farmers, led by the athletic Lincoln Tate. The direction of Battle of the Amazons was credited to Al Bradley, but this was a pseudonym for Alfonso Brescia. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

While working as a secretary for General Peterson (Barton MacLane), Jeannie (Barbara Eden) gets the idea in her pretty little head that her master Tony (Larry Hagman) should be promoted to general as well. With a nod of the head and the blink of an eye, Jeannie sets the wheels in motion that will elevate Tony to the highest rank at NASA.
