Jason Stuart Movies

One of the first openly gay comedians to include his sexuality as a key element of his onscreen and on-stage personas, Jason Stuart started making the rounds at comedy clubs in the early '90s with a wicked cache of jokes about his life as a gay Jewish single living in L.A. Soon, the funnyman was appearing on TV shows like Charmed and My Wife and Kids, as well as movies like Kindergarten Cop and Vegas Vacation. Stuart also combined elements from his stand-up routine with real-life discussions of culture and politics to create a lecture he brought to several universities titled "Coming Out in Hollywood." ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

Seven students participating in an experiment designed to eliminate the sensation of pain begin to question the validity of the study after arriving at a remote institute and realizing that their numbers are dwindling fast. Greeted at the institute by eccentric scientist JB Divay, the students view their host's fascination with hypnosis, clocks, and cactuses as simple personality quirks. Before long, however, the frightened lab rats discover that Divay is far from the harmless crackpot she first appeared to be. Later, when one of the students finds his boyfriend strapped to a table beneath a giant pendulum, he must race to prevent Divay from finishing her final experiment. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A crowd favorite for LGBT crowds everywhere, Jason Stewart makes stand-up history by becoming the very first openly gay male comedian to headline mainstream comedy clubs across the United States. In this release of a performance captured live at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Columbus, Ohio, the playful jokester cracks up the crowd by injecting a little humor into the ongoing battle against homophobia. An inside look at Stewart's life shows why his sexuality wasn't always something he was able to laugh about, and how his formative years helped him to develop the sense of humor that made him one of the country's top comics. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A simple brotherly joke goes hilariously awry in director Stewart Wade's zany tale of mistaken sexual identity. Todd's brother Barry wants to help his single sibling out by setting him up on a blind date. While all signs lead to a perfect match, it soon becomes obvious that Barry is having a little fun at his brother's expense when the Kelly in question turns out not to be a beautiful woman, but a homosexual male. Upon realizing that they have been duped by Todd's mischievous brother, the unlikely couple soon forms a warm friendship while concocting an elaborate scheme to one-up the unrepentant prankster. When Barry sees Todd and Kelly holding hands soon thereafter, he becomes convinced that his brother is, in fact, gay, and phones the pair's mother to break the news. As Todd's mother begins to see his son's disdain for sports and love of film as clear signs of his homosexuality that she has somehow managed to overlook, she determines to show her son that she will love him no matter what his lifestyle. But Todd's mother isn't the only one who is now convinced that her son is gay, and as suspicions begin to abound in his close-knit social circle, the hapless "homosexual" soon begins to wonder if there isn't some truth to the rumors after all. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

In this blend of fantasy and romantic comedy, a man isn't sure if he's stuck between past and present or if his imagination is simply working overtime. Edward (Jon Voight) is a prince in Medieval Europe, where his greatest rival is his brother Roni (Armand Assante). Roni wants to declare war on neighboring kingdoms, while Edward believes in keeping the peace, and both are in love with a beautiful gypsy named Dahlin (Eileen Davidson); only the frequent intervention of their father, the King (Wilford Brimley), keeps the two from killing each other. Or at least that's how it seems until Edward wakes up. It seems that his name is really James, he's the host of a talk show in Los Angeles, and he keeps having a recurring dream in which he and his co-workers are characters in a tale of knights in shining armor. Eric, his boss, looks just like the King, and Roni is a dead ringer for Sean, a high-powered businessman who is organizing a hostile takeover of James' company. However, things really start to get interesting for James when he meets Valerie, who is directing a television commercial at James' studio. She bears a striking resemblance to Dahlin the gypsy girl, and James can't help but tell her that she's the girl of his dreams. But are they really dreams, or memories of a past life? Eternity was Jon Voight's first film in three years; he also co-wrote the screenplay with director Steven Paul and Dorothy Koster Paul. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
