Dubbed "the Queen of B-movies," Julie Strain has established herself as the reigning monarch of a rarefied kingdom whose subjects include chainsaw-wielding lesbian hookers, virgin-sacrificing sorceresses, 6'7" dominatrixes, Satanic cops, and horny vampires. Standing a proud 6'1" and packing more silicon than the Dupont plant, Strain has starred in over 80 films, most of which have gone straight to video and into the hearts and hormones of remote control-toting men everywhere.Hailing from Concord, California, where she was born February 18, 1962, Strain had a lower-income, middle-American upbringing. Her life changed drastically when, at the age of 11, she was kicked in the head by a horse and suffered total amnesia as a result. After spending many years reconstructing her identity from scratch and enduring an unsatisfying marriage, Strain decided to head for Hollywood at the ripe old age of 28. Although she initially encountered extreme poverty, perseverance and a willingness to do just about anything allowed the aspiring actress to prevail, and five years later she had starred in a dizzying number of films and videos with names like Witchcraft 4: Virgin Heart and Bimbo Movie Bash, had been named Penthouse magazine's 1993 "Pet of the Year," and had seen her likeness reproduced on everything from calendars to coffee mugs.
Although Strain has stuck largely to the B-movie realm, she has made the occasional foray into mainstream film, appearing in such features as Kuffs (1992), Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994), and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), the last of which billed her simply as "Annihilator Girl." ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, All Movie Guide
Steven Seagal plays a good if troubled man living in a corrupt world (sound familiar yet?) in this action drama. Gino Felino (Seagal) is a cop who grew up in a tough Brooklyn neighborhood, and while many of his old friends now live on the other side of the law, he retains a fierce loyalty to the community. When his partner, a friend since childhood, is murdered -- in broad daylight, and in clear view of his wife and children -- Gino is assigned to investigate, and he soon learns that the shooter was Richie Madano (William Forsythe), his life-long nemesis and now a low-level wise guy with an addiction to crack. Gino swings into action to bring Richie to justice, though he discovers that he's not the first in line -- the Don who oversees Richie's crew is appalled by this crime, and Gino has to bring Richie in before the Mafia can put a bullet in his head. Jean-Claude Van Damme proves that two cracked heads are better than one in Double Impact. Van Damme plays twins Chad and Alex, who were separated at birth when their parents were brutally murdered by members of a Hong Kong criminal cartel. Incredibly both Chad and Alex have grown up to become world-class martial arts experts. Chad is a snobbish Californian karate instructor, while Alex is a cigar-smoking smuggler in Hong Kong. The two are brought back together by the family bodyguard Frank Avery (Geoffrey Lewis) to team up to avenge their parents' murder. But stacked against them is a thoroughly nasty, over-the-top assassin named Moon (martial arts film great Bolo Yeung). ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

She lives. Deep in the bowels of the underworld Alyda the half-human demon waits to return to the earthy plane. This horror sequel chronicles her blood-soaked ascent. It all begins at Miskatonic University where several gruesome murders have occurred. Two college students, Randolph Carter and Eliot Damon Howard witnessed some of Alyda's handiwork in nearby Winthrop mansion where their friends, who went up there for a little illicit fun, were mysteriously slaughtered. The fleeing duo encounter the cops and paramedics. Though they claim some otherworldly monster is responsible, Sheriff Hatch pooh-poohs them, claiming an animal did the damage. Howard goes to the hospital and while there has a vision. He sees the original owner of the mansion who lived in the 1600s. The owner had been a warlock and it was he who awakened Alyda. As Winthrop fades, he warns Howard that he must stop her. Unfortunately, after his release, Howard has trouble finding people to believe him until he and Carter hook up with professor Harley Warren who uses a combination of ancient rituals and modern technology to take care of Alyda once and for all, but not before more blood is spilled and much horror ensues. Lenny (Tom Sizemore) is the kind of man who simply cannot get through the day without messing up, or suffering some amazing piece of bad luck. As a consequence, he has lost every one of the jobs his uncle has set him up with. That's how he loses his job as a gas station attendant: he leaves the place to ferry Eloise, a particularly good-looking girl, to a job interview. She looks like a good thing for him though, and they move in together, despite a lack of funds. Soon, he even loses his job at a porno flick, when that gets raided by the police. Oddly, he is almost insanely jealous of Eloise's former boyfriends. During George's visit, Bruce is killed, and George, who witnessed the killing, takes over the patrol to seek revenge. But first George has to earn respect from the patrol, and at first all of them want him out. But with the help of a police liaison (Tony Goldwyn), he uncovers an illicit scheme involving $50 million, a case Bruce was just about to break when he was killed. A popular television lifeguard show faces cancellation when the crew is forced to find a new director on short notice in this sexy satire filled with skimpy bikinis and lots of fun in the sun. Thanks to a healthy display of skin and a cast that includes some chiseled hunks and lovely lifeguards, "Bikini Squad" draws some of the highest ratings on television. After the original director walks and a female is brought in to finish the season, she finds that sticking to the shooting schedule is harder than it appears when you're dealing with a crew whose collective IQ is that of a bag of beach balls. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

A commendably gruesome title sequence gets this slasher sequel off on the right foot, and Bobby Ray Shafer returns as Satanist killer-cop Joe Vickers, this time chasing strippers and businessmen through an office building during an after-work bachelor party. Director Adam Rifkin (under the pseudonym "Rif Coogan") keeps the tension level high and sets up some nicely-staged sequences, making up for the less-than-stellar acting. They are pursued by a mob kingpin and a gorgeous hit woman whose principal concern in life is herself. The further misadventures of bumbling Los Angeles police Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) are chronicled in this third installment in the popular Naked Gun comedy series. This by-the-numbers entry begins with Drebin as a happily retired house-husband called back into action when an evil terrorist organization threatens Los Angeles. As in the other Naked Gun films, this plot is merely an excuse for an unhinged, rapid-fire succession of gags, ranging from satirical lampoons of cop movies to broad slapstick, all played with a perfectly straight face. Nielsen provides his familiar combination of complete witlessness and oblivious dignity as Drebin, and the film attempts to match the earlier Naked Gun films -- and the Police Squad! television series that inspired them -- in the number of jokes. However, the film proved less successful than its predecessors, as some viewers found that the freewheeling comic style of the earlier films had solidified into its own formula, now mildly entertaining but disappointingly predictable. ~ Judd Blaise, All Movie Guide

The third entry in the popular Beverly Hills Cop series finds Detroit cop Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) returning yet again to Southern California, this time on the trail of two car thieves turned murderers. As he teams up again with L.A. cop Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold), Foley's investigation leads him to Wonder World, a theme park that is also the front for a major counterfeiting ring. More action and less wit are the trademarks of this film, which features Murphy dishing out his usual wisecracks, but with less flair and freshness than in the original film. Alan Young plays the old man who runs the amusement park, an interesting setting that still adds little to the tired premise. ~ Don Kaye, All Movie Guide

Larry is in line for a promotion, but instead the senior partnership is given to Howard (Edward Albert), and Erica is just as upset as you might imagine; using both her sexual allure and her magical powers, Erica takes her revenge on Howard, leaving him in a wheelchair. However, it seems that Howard's wife Amelia (Linda Blair) is also a witch, and she's not about to allow the crippling of Howard to go unpunished.
