The story is set upon the mythical Caribbean island of Hondo-Rico, which is suffering a similar military coupe until 26 pink Jeeps filled with beautiful women, wine and exotic food arrive to distract the soldiers from their mission. In this curious blend of Western and detective melodrama, Jock Mahoney plays a frontier gumshoe named Hogan. When an old prospector is murdered, Hogan takes on the assignment of finding the four heirs to the prospector's fortune. Briefly sidetracked by a romance with Mary Kingman (played by Kim Hunter in a rare Western appearance), Hogan not only finds the heirs but also the killers -- and in at least one case, heir and killer are one and the same. A young woman plays with a divining rod and ends up finding much more than water in this horror movie. Instead of the desired liquid, the woman finds a 400-year-old human head, and it is still alive. This biographical drama, chronicles the patriotic exploits of World War II hero Colonel Francis C. Grevemberg, who fought a tough battle against crime and corruption in his home state, Louisiana. He got his chance to serve the state when he was appointed the superintendent of state police by the new governor. Prior to his appointment, Louisiana had been notorious for it's graft, crooked leadership, and criminal underpinnings. Upon accepting his position, Grevemberg vowed to eradicate it from the state governments. It was not an easy task as he met with almost constant opposition from all sides. Shipped out on a double bill with Summer Love, Universal's The Big Beat is another of those "rock & roll salads" so popular in the late 1950s. What plot there is concerns the efforts by record executive John Randall (William Reynolds) to sign up several top R&R acts. John also wants to prove his mettle to his old-fashioned exec father Joseph (Bill Goodwin), whose tastes are strictly squaresville. Aiding and abetting Randall is his faithful secretary Nikki (Andrea Martin), who of course worships the shag rug her boss walks on. Comic relief is provided by the one-time-only teaming of Rose Marie and Hans Conried. (This alone is worth the admission price!) The musical highlights in The Big Beat are provided by such luminaries as Gogi Grant, Fats Domino ("I'm Walking"), and the Diamonds. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Zsa Zsa Gabor plays twin sisters in this campy Red Scare espionage thriller from the late 1950s. She plays the nurse to Joseph Stalin, who didn't die in 1953 after all. The death was all a nefarious scam in which the leader faked his death, had his face surgically rearranged and then moved to Greece with a fortune in Soviet currency. Nurse Zsa Zsa, who is also Stalin's lover. Unfortunately, she told no one where she was going. When her twin discovers her missing, she worries and hires an ex O.S.S. agent to find her. After much searching and danger, the agent finds the wicked dictator and sees that he this time his reign of terror is permanently ended. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Tender Hearts was the pre-release title of Hugo Haas' Edge of Hell. The film could also have been called Umberto D, Hollywood Style, inasmuch as star-producer-director-scripter Haas plays a kindly old derelict whose only friend is his pet dog. Living on the fringes of a big city, former circus clown Haas depends upon his trained pooch to scrounge around for food. When he becomes too old and feeble to care for the dog, Haas seeks out a wealthy home for his beloved pet. Despite the prevailing sentimentality in Tender Hearts, Hugo Haas manages to work a trashy blonde into the proceedings, in this case a streetwalker played by Francesca de Scaffa, and a climactic murder. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In this heart-warming drama, a beggar and his performing dog, Flip, struggle to eke out a living upon the cruel streets. He is hired to perform at a rich kid's birthday party. There, the beggar is offered $500 for his beloved dog. He refuses and again hits the streets. Soon he becomes so impoverished that he can no longer provide food for his four-legged friend; he sells him for $20. The beggar is then beaten and robbed. Later he learns that Flip died.
