This Michael Apted-directed crime melodrama features Stacy Keach as Jim Naboth, a Scotland Yard cop on the skids, suffering from depression and alcoholism. He is summoned by Foreman (Edward Fox), a British security expert whose wife Jill (Carol White) and daughter are being held hostages by kidnappers until Foreman pays the crooks a million-dollar-plus ransom. Created by Jon Scoffield, the British comedy series Who Do You Do? offered a forum for several of the country's top impressionists. For the most part, imitations were confined to politicians and show-biz personalities, though a few athletes crept into the proceedings. Among the performers was the versatile Lance Percival, best known in America for his impersonations of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in the TV cartoon series The Beatles. Fifty-six half-hour episodes and one 45-minute special broadcast of Who Do You Do? were aired by London Weekend Television over a four-year period, beginning January 8, 1972. In 1995 the series was revived by Central Television for an additional 30 half-hour episodes, with Aidan J. Harvey serving as host. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
