This condensed version of the Mexican telenovela series centers around identical triplets Maria Guadalupe, Maria Paula, and Maria Fernanda - whose uncanny resemblance to one another betrays the fact that they all possess deeply disparate personalities. When the triplets were just young girls, their parents were killed in a tragic car accident. Later, Maria Guadalupe falls down a mountain and into a river. Though she is believed to be dead, Maria Guadalupe is still very much alive. She's being raised by Ana Sales, who is still struggling with her own mother's death and who vows to raise the child as her own - even after discovering the truth about her identity. Meanwhile, Maria Fernanda has been rendered blind in an accident, and refuses to give up hope that her sibling somehow survived her treacherous fall. The most glamorous of the three sisters is Maria Paula, though her outward radiance masks a deep selfishness. Maria Paula always has to be the center of attention, especially when she's around her uncle Eduardo and grandmother Mercedes. When Maria Guadalupe and Ana arrive in Mexico City to seek treatment for an illness, the amnesiac sister falls for a handsome and kindhearted cab driver named Nicolas, who has just moved to the city to live with his grandfather. Though Ana tries her best to conceal Maria Guadalupe's true identity by restricting the actions of the young girl, Nicolas' grandfather knows the truth. Before long, the lives of all three sisters converge in Mexico City, drawing the people around them together in a manner that no one could have foreseen. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

During a family dinner in honor of his birthday, patriarch Rodrigo Carnicero (Xavier Masse) drops dead of a heart attack. Among the witnesses are his devoted daughter Pureza (Pilar Ixquic Mata) and his beloved grandchildren Rocco (Osvaldo Benavides) and Rodrigo (Rodrigo Cachero). Rocco and Rodrigo are cousins, though completely different; while Rocco is laid-back and hippie-ish, Rodrigo is dour and conservative. One thing Rocco and Rodrigo have in common, however, is their loyalty to their departed grandfather, with whom they enjoyed a closer relationship than with either of their self-absorbed fathers. After Don Rodrigo's death, Rocco and Rodrigo take off in the vintage car left to Rodrigo by his grandfather to dispose of the don's ashes in the manner requested in his will. When they arrive at the beach where their grandfather is to be scattered, Rocco and Rodrigo lodge at a hotel run by Perla (Gina Morett) and her daughter Maria (Ana de la Reguera). Chaos soon results when the urn is lost, Rocco hooks up with Maria for his initiation into sex, and the cousins discover that Perla once enjoyed intimate relations with their beloved grandfather. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, All Movie Guide

"Lalo el Mimo" or Eduardo de la Peña stars in this unusual comedy as a lottery ticket winner. Instead of investing in stocks or huge houses, Rafael Lara (the character el Mimo plays) has set up four of his friends in auto repair businesses. In addition to that, though, he has a fondness for the ladies, and can't seem to stop marrying them. Before long, he has four wives and four separate (and very elegant) homes for them. Eventually the authorities get wind of these illegal goings on (one wife per customer, please) and put him in jail. However, he has fulfilled the secret dreams of many of those who put him in jail, and he is much admired by them. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
