A young woman discovers how hard it can be to move past the joy and pain of her first serious romance in this drama from writer and director Mia Hansen-Love. Camille (Lola Creton) was a naïve 15-year-old when she first met Sullivan (Sebastian Urzendowsky), a handsome young man of 19. Camille immediately fell deeply in love with Sullivan and she was convinced she'd found the relationship of her lifetime. However, while Sullivan cared for Camille, he wasn't ready to spend the rest of his life with her and he broke up the relationship to spend the better part of a year exploring South America. A heartbroken Camille suffered a nervous breakdown, and for years afterwards she found it hard to fully commit herself to a man. Eventually, a more mature Camille falls for Lorenz (Magne-Havard Brekke), a college professor she meets while studying architecture. With Lorenz, Camille finds herself in a satisfying relationship with a man who respects her, but her happiness proves short-lived when Sullivan reenters her life. Un Amour de Jeunesse (aka Goodbye First Love) received its North American premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

French director Nicolas Bary's wacky, family-friendly fantasy comedy The Children of Timpelbach concerns the titular village, where the kids act so unruly and disobedient that all of the adults suddenly throw up their hands in disgust and decide to abandon the place. This, of course, leaves the children in charge of governing the community - which leads to a host of messy and wacky complications. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Controversial filmmaker Catherine Breillat puts a new spin on an ancient story in this multileveled drama. In France in the mid-'50s, Catherine (Marilou Lopes-Benites) enjoys toying with her older sister, Marie-Anne (Lola Giovannetti), by reading her the story of the murderous and oft-married Bluebeard, embellishing the story with plenty of gore and scaring the girl out of her wits. As Catherine rereads the story, we're taken back to the year 1697, as Lord Bluebeard (Dominique Thomas) prepares to make Marie-Catherine (Lola Créton) his seventh wife. Marie-Catherine's youth and innocence make her an especially attractive quarry to Bluebeard, and rather than murder her right away, he decides to wait a while in order to savor the terrible joy of claiming her life. However, as Bluebeard becomes caught in a cycle of events that keep him from following through on his wife's murder, the two slowly become something like a normal couple and Marie-Catherine begins to turn the tables on her spouse. Barbe Bleue (aka Bluebeard) received its world premiere at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
