This sequel to Noa at 17 revisits the same characters to see how they, and Israel, have changed. We find Noa older, wiser, and less optimistic-the kibbutz where she grew up is no longer the pinnacle of light and faith, and neither is her country. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide

- Dalia Shimko, Shmuel Shilo, (more)
In this drama, Rafa (Sharon Alexander), an Israeli military policeman, has been sent by headquarters to investigate irregularities in the reporting of the death of an Arab murder suspect. When he gets to the West Bank military camp to investigate, he finds that the Israeli officer the Arab suspect was accused of killing was an old schoolmate of his. And the officer who openly admits killing the suspect for "attempting to escape interrogation" is yet another old school friend. It is clear that the murder suspect was killed by Rafa's friend in order to ensure that justice was personally served for the murder of the Israeli officer, and this action was not only illegal but immoral. On the other hand, Rafa is just as clearly expected to let the whole thing slide, because the offending officer is One Of Us. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Director Yehuda Ne'eman has put together a film about a former Israeli paratrooper in West Germany who leaves for home carrying $250,000 to help found a new Arab university. The glitch in his plans for delivering the gift comes when his Arab companions insist that the money has to be spent on guns -- and he refuses to give it to them. This puts him in jeopardy with both the Arab and the Israeli extremists and garners no support for his middle-of-the-road approach. As it happens, this drama was filmed during the summer of 1982 when Israel invaded Lebanon and bombed West Beirut. The actors and crew were not disinterested parties, and either because of the politics involved or for casting against type, the performances are unconvincing even though the subject itself is strong. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

- Gidi Gov, Yossi Polak, (more)
Noa at Seventeen is set in Israel in 1951. Noa (Dalia Shimko) is the teenaged daughter of middle-class Jewish family. A feature-length argument brews over whether the girl will attend college or enter a kibbutz. This culture clash is played out against the larger backdrop of the political turmoil between Israel and its so-called neighbors. The austere, minimalist Noa at Seventeen is head and shoulders above such non-Israeli kibbutz-life films as 1972's Jerusalem, which seem to have been filmed for the express purpose of dressing their leading ladies in bare-midriff blouses and tight shorts. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

- Dalia Shimko, Idit Zur, (more)
This is a light comedy centered around the theme of teenagers having a good time during their summer vacation, which includes smoking marijuana, dumping on the rich kids, and other forgettable aspects of the more indulgent teen years. There is also some predictable nudity, given the combination of pot, teenagers, and summer. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
