Genre specialist John Carl Buechler offers this savage twist on the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale by tracing the dark journey of a brilliant doctor who is gradually transformed into a sinister, murderous creature. Dr. Jekyll (Tony Todd) has successfully cured a higher primate of a dire heart condition, but could this treatment prove successful on humans as well? Upon testing the serum on himself, Dr. Jekyll becomes a horrifying and primal beast that goes by the name Mr. Hyde. As Dr. Jekyll descends into a paranoid state of schizophrenia, he fails to see that Mr. Hyde is simply a malevolent manifestation of his own darkest instincts. Tracy Scroggins and Vernon G. Wells co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

The evil Plughead, a biosynthetic man, has a revolutionary chip that allows humans to live a decade beyond normal life expectancy but to manufacture it they must torture innocent people until they die. Plughead has no problem with that; in fact, he rather enjoys it. Plughead's nemesis, Danner is also a biosynthetic man, but he is a good guy. FBI agent Kyle is using Danner to help her find Plughead. Bradley Brinkman (Steve Levitt) is a computer nerd who makes a deal with the Devil (James Coco) in this teen comedy. He is transformed into Hunk Golden (John Allen Nelson), the muscular blonde-haired, blue-eyed California heartthrob. She-devil O'Brien (Deborah Shelton) threatens to change the popular Hunk back into the anemic Bradley if he refuses to serve the Devil on Earth. Rebecca Bush plays psychologist Sunny Graves and co-stars with Robert Morse, Constantine Constapopolis, and Avery Schreiber. James Coco, who died a few weeks before the debut of this film, gives memorable comic portrayals of a pirate, a Nazi, and a caveman in addition to a delightful devil. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

In spite of some interesting names attached to this low-budget, embarrassing horror film (Rafael Buñuel, son of acclaimed Luis Buñuel is the co-writer and co-producer), the result is anemic. At the core of the story, seven athletes in training for the Olympics at the Falcon Academy of Athletics in Massachusetts are violently slain by a killer with a wicked javelin toss. Most of the women in the film are portrayed as lesbians (apparently a straight woman can do no more than wield a wicked crochet hook), or their gender is indeterminate because of the drugs they imbibe -- a side issue in the film. Clichéd, predictable, and lacking in suspense, Fatal Games was never released theatrically. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In Body Double, director Brian DePalma pays homage to the Alfred Hitchcock movies Vertigo and Rear Window, adding a few grotesque touches all his own. Craig Wasson plays Jake, a struggling actor who keeps losing jobs because of his claustrophobia. To make matters worse, his girlfriend has walked out on him, so he has no place to sleep. His pal offers him the use of his apartment for the evening. The apartment happens to be equipped with a huge picture window and telescope, enabling him to spy on his beautiful neighbor Gloria (Deborah Shelton) while she undresses. He also bears witness to her brutal murder. And then he meets a porn star (Melanie Griffith), who has just taken a job posing as the late Gloria. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Face (Dirk Benedict) opens his mail to find the fraternity pin that he gave to Leslie Bektall (Markie Post), the woman who dropped out of his life fifteen years ago. This leads the A-Team to Ecuador, where Leslie is now a nun, working at an orphanage. Though she nervously insists that there's no trouble brewing, Leslie, the other nuns and the orphans are being held captive by gangsters led by the wounded Salvador (Ismael "East" Carlo). In their efforts to save the good people from the bad people, the Team members disguise themselves as whisky salesmen--and later as (you guessed it!) nuns. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In the first episode of Cheers' two-part season one finale, Sam's brother Derek (George Ball), a natural-born charmer, pays a visit to the gang. It doesn't take long for Derek to win everyone over -- everyone but Sam, who jealously remains impervious to his brother's appeal. Sam reaches his limit, however, when Derek asks Diane (Shelley Long) to accompany him to Paris. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
It will come as quite a shock to discover the venerable James Earl Jones and José Ferrer slumming in this Greek-lensed ultra-cheapie about a legendary sea creature aroused from centuries of sleep off the shores of a Greek island by an opportunistic American archaeologist (Jones). It seems the beastie's legacy is well known by some of the island's old-timers (namely Ferrer), including the part about appeasing the monster with a virgin sacrifice -- namely the alluring Deborah Shelton. The exotic locations and the presence of the gruff Jones (who apparently saw this as a paid vacation) lend a great deal of production value, but apparently Jones' salary came out of the filmmakers' special-effects budget -- because the feared creature of ancient legend looks like a sock puppet! This film is also known as Red Tide and Demon Lake. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
