Tony lives in Ontario, but he has relatives all over the eastern part of the U.S. and Canada. Since he has been earning money by running marijuana from Pittsburgh to Canada, he's been avoiding them, but when his beloved grandfather bids him from his deathbed to take care of his wife, Tony's grandmother, he reluctantly agrees to do so. By now, he has already messed up a delivery for a dealer who is now gunning for him, so when his feisty grandmother proposes suing the American mining company grandpa worked with for causing him to die of black lung disease, he readily agrees to take her to Pittsburgh to file her suit. As they travel, these two angry and distrustful relations bicker and quarrel a lot but also uncover their true value to one another. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Despite the fact that a murder has taken place during the screening of Murder Camp at a small town's only movie theater during a "horror festival," there are a number of prominent citizens who want the festival to go on. Thus, the town's police detective is in a perfect position to see the killer do his specialty act again...and again...and again. Meanwhile, a girl with a passion to go to Hollywood and become an actress (through the good offices of her film-director father) must deal with her wildly overprotective and puritanical (divorced) mother. Who's killing whom, here, and why? ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Terry O'Quinn plays The Stepfather in this intelligent, unsettling chiller. We'd tell you O'Quinn's character name, but he has so many. You see, O'Quinn has been a stepfather many times over, romancing and marrying widowed women in several different states. After each wedding, everything is blissful -- at least, until O'Quinn's new wife and kids fail to measure up to his notions of perfection. Then he kills them en masse, and moves on to his next victims. Shelley Hack and Jill Schoelen co-star as O'Quinn's latest wife and stepdaughter, who prove to be yet another disappointment to him. An adroit witches' blend of Ozzie & Harriet and Psycho, The Stepfather was scripted by suspense veteran Donald E. Westlake. A lesser sequel, Stepfather 2, followed in 1989. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

- Terry O'Quinn, Jill Schoelen, (more)
