This drama tells the true and quite unbelievable story of popular Mexican singer Jose Sosa, played by himself. Known by fans as "Jose Jose," the singer came from a poor family and rose from rags to riches simply because of his talent. Although he fell in love with a wonderful woman, Anel (Cristian Bach) he succumbed to alcohol, drugs, and the pressures of too much success. As he went downhill, he married someone else, a mistake from the start. After nothing is left of his career and he is in the hospital fighting off a diseased liver, Anel comes back and their old flame re-ignites. The rest of the story is deservedly legendary. Fifteen of Jose Sosa's songs are on the soundtrack. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

This entertaining entry in the long-running Mexican fantasy series stars Gina Romand as Frankenstein's daughter, who remains eternally youthful thanks to the blood of young virgins. She's also a mad scientist who mummifies her own aunt (Lucy Gallardo), creates a Frankenstein-like monster called Ursus, and uses a gorilla-like henchman to try draining the superhuman blood of Santo (Rodolfo Guzman Huerta). The heroic, masked wrestler must team up with the hulking, disgruntled Ursus to foil her evil plans. Roberto Canedo co-stars with Carlos Suarez, Carlos Agosti, and Gerardo Zepeda. Director Miguel M. Delgado would contribute several films to the Santo series, including the same year's monster-mash Santo y Blue Demon contra Dracula y el Hombre Lobo. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

Cantinflas, known the world around for his Jerry Lewis-style antics, seems more like Peter Sellers in this hilarious Mexican comedy. Short on plot but long on laughs, the innocent comedian falls victim to excellently contrived cliches as a special delivery man caught in the middle of intrigue and spies. Cantinflas also expands into singing and dancing opportunities. The film also features a spectacular Latin dance sequence by Rafael de Cordoba. ~ Lucinda Ramsey, All Movie Guide

Overcooked melodrama characterizes this tale set during the Mexican Revolution and starring some of Mexico's most famous, old-time actors (Katy Jurado, María Félix, Emilo Fernández, and Pedro Armendáriz). The story is about as far-fetched as can be imagined. Herrera (Armendáriz) and Gómez (Fernández) are on opposite sides in the Revolution, but then, there is more than one side anyway. Just before the two can fight it out, they are arrested and later released when the fighting is more or less over. But when the two men return home, one finds that his mistress, La Bandida (Félix) is involved with someone else, and the other is soon to be a widower. The saga then continues as both men go after La Bandida -- and all this happens with a great deal of brawling, singing, and carrying-on. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
