Love is in the air thanks to a magic potion whipped up by an imaginative student in this playful independent comedy with music. Timothy (Tanner Cohen) is a bright young man who is attending an upscale private high school, Morgan Hill, thanks to the hard work and sacrifice of his mother (Judy McLane). Timothy is also gay and doesn't care who knows it, which doesn't make him popular with his classmates; his closest friends, a girl nicknamed Frankie (Zelda Williams) and her boyfriend, Max (Ricky Goldman), attend another school. Timothy has a serious crush on Jonathon (Nathaniel David Becker), but Jonathon isn't interested in boys, to Timothy's chagrin. Timothy is cast as Puck in the school's spring musical, a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and inspired by his character's machinations, Timothy tries to recreate the love potion used in the play. Miraculously, Timothy arrives at a formula that actually works, and after accidentally dousing Max and having to fend off his advances, Timothy sprays Jonathan with the concoction and soon has the boy of his dreams. However, before long Timothy's magic potion gets loose, and things get very lively on campus, among both the students and the teachers. In this sequel to 1996's The Dentist, Corbin Bernsen returns as Dr. Feinstone, the obsessive-compulsive dentist whose wife's infidelities left him a deranged monster. Picking up on the IRS audit subplot of the original film, The Dentist II tracks Feinstone after his escape from a mental institution to Paradise, a sleepy little town where he's been socking away his assets and leading a double life under an assumed name. Pretending to have retired from his big-city dental practice, "Dr. Caine" rents a house from the lovely Jamie Devers (Jillian McWirther), but soon finds himself drawn back into the exam room after the local dentist's working habits don't pass muster. Killing the old guy for incorrectly gluing one of his own capped teeth, Feinstone/Caine sets up shop himself, starts dating Jamie, and soon grows homicidally jealous over her friendship with another man. As the killing continues, Feinstone remains unaware that a detective is on his trail. Soon, a toothless, tongueless woman from the dentist's past shows up in Paradise, interrupting his killing spree. In preparation for a joint scientific venture with DS9, a trio of Cardassian scientists arrive at the station. Sisko elects to join this venture, despite warnings that according to an ancient Bajoran prophecy, the Cardassians' arrival will bring about the destruction of the wormhole. As the story progresses, Sisko is given reason aplenty to conclude that the prophecy may well come true. Wes Craven wrote and directed this surrealistic horror-comedy, which was inspired by a true story of parents keeping their children locked in a basement for years. Fool (Brandon Adams), an African-American teen, breaks into the home of the wealthy landlords who evicted his family from a ghetto tenement. A fortune in gold coins is rumored to exist inside, but Fool discovers that the mansion is a chamber of horrors presided over by a pair of incestuous, serial killer siblings (Everett McGill and Wendy Robie). The twisted couple has also tried to raise a succession of kidnapped boys. Each botched effort is handled the same way -- the victim's eyes, ears and tongues are removed, and he's sent to live in the sealed-off basement, where a colony of similarly deformed "brothers" resides. Fool is able to avoid the evil lovers as he moves through the house's maze of hidden passageways. He discovers that the occupants have a daughter, Alice (A.J. Langer), who has survived their abuse, so he rescues her and they attempt to free the "people under the stairs." Adams, who made his feature debut with in film, was familiar to viewers as the star of rock singer Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (1988). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
