Adrian Dunbar and Amanda Redman co-star in Peter Whalley's tense psychological thriller Suspicion, which originally debuted on Granada Television in Great Britain. The Byzantine plot begins when Carol (Redman) receives an anonymous email message one afternoon, informing her that her husband, Mark (Dunbar) is philandering with his secretary. When confronted, Mark denies the claim and pins the message on a disgruntled former employee, whom he recently fired, but the emails persist over the next several days. The Sci-Fi Channel's first miniseries production adapts Frank Herbert's esteemed futuristic novel Dune into a six-hour epic. As a result, Duke Atreides' mistress (Saskia Reeves), a magical Bene Gesserit witch, and their son Paul (Alec Newman) must flee into the dangerous, worm-infested dunes where they find help from an ancient civilization that engages in guerilla warfare. As the political agenda of the reigning emperor unfolds, Paul is enlightened about his powers in the world and those of the mysterious Navigators of Spacing Guild. A mother's love turns deadly in the wake of an organ transplant in the thriller Heart. Gary Ellis (Christopher Eccleston) is a businessman, while his wife Tess (Kate Hardie) works in television. Gary and Tess don't get along very well, largely because he's convinced she's having an affair. One day, Gary has a major heart attack, and is soon confined to a wheelchair while doctors wait for a suitable donor for a heart transplant. Tess takes this opportunity to finally start having that affair Gary's been talking about, with a writer named Alex (Rhys Ifans). One day, Gary is rushed to the hospital after Sean (Matthew Rhys), a teenage aspiring boxer, is brought to the emergency room near death. Sean dies, and his heart is transplanted to Gary. After recovery, Gary is a new man, and Tess is so delighted she gives Alex his walking papers. But then Sean's mother Maria (Saskia Reeves) enters the picture; while at first Gary wanted to know what sort of person's heart was beating in his chest, now Maria is trying to work her way into the Ellis's lives, certain her son's hopes and dreams now live on in Gary's chest. The off-beat love story between Paul and Kim provides the framework of this quirky British melodrama. The two meet after the taxi in which the attractive Kim rides collides with manly courier Paul and his motorcycle. Paul is utterly fascinated with Kim and swears that he has seen her before. He has. In fact the two were childhood friends in Catholic boys school, but back then, before the operation, Kim was named Karl. Now as a woman, Kim works as a successful writer for a greeting-card company while Paul, still wild and irresponsible, gets work while he can. An undercover cop finds that the line between his own personality and that of the character he's created have begun to dangerously blur in this drama. John (Reece Dinsdale) is a British police detective whose skill is matched only by his arrogance. Acts of brutal hooliganism have become commonplace at the football matches featuring one of London's minor league teams, Shadwell Town, and the police suspect that there is a more criminal undercurrent to these actions than merely fandom gone wrong after a few pints of beer. So John is made part of an undercover team along with Trevor (Richard Graham) and two other officers; they are to blend in with the most rabid fans and learn what is behind the violence. John also makes the acquaintance of Lydia (Saskia Reeves), a barmaid at a pub where many of the hooligans hang out, he and becomes friendly with her as a way of obtaining more information. But as John sinks deeper into a life of alcohol and violence while hanging out with the Shadwell Town hooligans, he finds he likes it more and more, and in time, he finds that he's becoming one of the brutal thugs he set out to capture. He also finds his relationship with Lydia is no longer just a matter of business, much to the chagrin of his wife Marie (Claire Skinner). Set in Great Britain in the late 1980s -- in the midst of Margaret Thatcher's controversial tenure as Prime Minister -- this drama examines the strange relationship between two siblings. Richard (Clive Owen) has given up a well-paying job in the private sector to take a position with a government agency that oversees real estate development. While Richard has always been emotionally secure and well-adjusted, his sister Natalie (Saskia Reeves) is nervous and unsure of how to deal with her life, even after marrying Sinclair (Alan Rickman), a successful financial analyst who can afford a posh home on the River Thames. Natalie and Richard don't see each other often, and their relationship has long had an odd cast to it, as Natalie often seems to flirt with her brother. One day, Richard meets Natalie and Sinclair over lunch, and Richard finds himself strongly attracted to his sister. In time, a mutual interest evolves into a full-blown incestuous affair. Natalie realizes that this sort of relationship can't go on and tries to break it off with Richard, but he becomes irrational, attempting suicide and threatening violence. While dealing openly with the sexual nature of its story, Close My Eyes also uses incest as a metaphor for moral and political irresponsibility. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Middle class Victorians tended to get a lot of mileage out of their peccadillos -- first, by having scruples before engaging in them, then by feeling guilty during the act itself, and finally by endless self-castigation and self-analysis afterward. In this costume romance, Isobel Heatherington has come to the countryside with her three daughters while her husband continues to attend to business in the City (London). She is persuaded to be a model in a painter's landscape scene, and before long she and the painter are having an affair. When her husband joins the scene, the affair ends, but jealous fellow that he is, he can't help but notice that both parties are behaving in a decidedly peculiar, guilt-ridden fashion. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
