Cristina Raines began showing up in American movies and TV programs in the early 1970s. Raines was seen in the small part of Maria in Robert Altman's
Nashville (1975), and was confined to flashbacks as the "late" Kate Hayden in the 1973 TV movie
Sunshine. Her most memorable movie role was Alison Parker, unwilling gatekeeper of Hades, in the 1977 horrorama The Sentinel. From 1980 through 1981, Cristina Raines played casino singer Lane Ballou on the prime time TV soaper
