The title of Henry Jaglom's stream-of-consciousness Eating says it all. Three women (Lisa Blake Richards, Mary Crosby and Marlena Giovi), each celebrating a "milestone" birthday, decide to throw a joint party. Attending the revelries is French documentary filmmaker Martine Nely Alard, who becomes fascinated when none of the guests will touch the meticulously prepared birthday cake. As Martine begins interviewing the partygoers, she discovers the importance that food holds in each of their lives. One of the most revelatory improvisational monologues is delivered by a matriarch portrayed by Frances Bergen, the real-life widow of Edgar Bergen and the mother of Candice. Though Eating is not for everyone's taste, for those in tune with the fiercely independent Jaglom, the film is a cinematic smorgasbord. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This fantasy-adventure is geared to the younger set. The saga begins when an American military plane is forced to explode an atomic bomb in the ocean, which brings up an ancient sea monster from his deep hibernation. When poor Capt. Barrios (Timothy Bottoms) is taking the watch on his ship, the monster surfaces and scuttles the vessel. A fellow sailor, mad as a hornet, accuses the Captain of being drunk and Barrios is stripped of his rank and threatened with a criminal trial. Anxious to prove he was right about the sea monster, the much-maligned Capt. The weekly TV series The Hardy Boys kicked off its second season with "The Mystery of King Tut's Tomb." Taryn Power (daughter of Tyrone) plays a young girl who overhears a scheme to pass off phony Egyptian artifacts as real. She is promptly kidnapped and spirited off to an ancient tomb. While exploring in the Egyptian desert, Frank Hardy (Parker Stevenson) and his brother Joe (Shaun Cassidy) stumble upon the tomb's hidden entrance. Famed stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen concocts a collection of fantastic creatures -- including a saber-tooth tiger, a chess-playing baboon, a giant walrus and three banshees -- for this follow-up to The Golden Voyage of Sinbad. Patrick Wayne stars as Sinbad, who seeks the hand of Princess Farah (Jane Seymour) in marriage but cannot get her brother, Prince Kassim (Damian Thomas), to agree to the match because he has been turned into a baboon by his evil stepmother. Henry Jaglom directed this moody meditation on the Vietnam War and one of its disturbed veterans. Dennis Hopper stars a sergeant who travels across the United States with the body of a fallen comrade, on a train to his friend's final burial place. As the train wends its way across the United States, the sergeant becomes more and more paranoid that the passengers on the train are out to get him. Richard Chamberlain stars in this lavishly appointed adaptation of the classic Alexandre Dumas adventure story. When Count Edmond Dantes (Richard Chamberlain) is stripped of his wealth and sent to prison for crimes he did not commit, he swears to get revenge against those who wronged him. With the help of Abbe (Trevor Howard), a fellow prisoner, the Count escapes and sets forth to see that justice is done. The supporting cast includes Tony Curtis as Mondego, Louis Jourdan as De Villefort, and Donald Pleasance as Danglars.
