Geoffrey Pierson Movies
Chicago native Geoffrey Pierson earned a masters in drama from Yale University before beginning his professional acting career with Summerstock theater productions. He continued to act on-stage, and didn't begin an on-camera career until he was 40 years old, starting with 1981's The Mating Season. He continued with appearances on shows like Law & Order and The Drew Carey Show, eventually landing the role of President John Keeler on the hit series 24. Richard Crenna returns as Lt. Frank Janek of the NYPD in the TV movie Murder in Black and White. As in his previous appearances in Doubletake (85) and Internal Affairs (89), Janek is called upon to solve a bizarre and baffling murder. This time the victim is Janek's own boss, the new commissioner of police. The lieutenant deduces that this murder is tied in with the killing of a physician, which occurred only a few hours earlier. Diahann Carroll plays the commissioner's widow, who may or may not be privy to a departmental cover-up. Rummaging through their neighbors' mail, Al (Ed O'Neill) and Peg (Katey Sagal) come across an invitation for Steve (David Garrison) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) to appear on "How Do I Love Thee?," a TV game show for newlyweds. Posing as Steve and Marcy, Al and Peg attend the show's taping, where they learn that the object of the game is for the husband to endure as much pain and humiliation as possible. But the "fun" doesn't really begin until the real Steve and Marcy show up on the same program. Teenaged Chris Mills (Mark Paul Gosselaar) is aware that his argumentative parents (Julie Hagerty and Geoff Pierson) are about to divorce. He also catches on that he and younger sister Jenny (Taylor Fry) are going to be pawns in a bitter custody battle. To avoid this, Chris takes legal action to prevent his parents from splitting up. He hires a licensed but unsuccessful attorney (Alan Arkin, who collaborated on the script with his wife Barbara) to press his case. Chris succeeds in delaying the divorce--now he needs a legal precedent to halt it altogether.
