A down-on-his-luck pilot stuck repossessing private jets is offered one last shot at redemption in the form of a dangerous rescue mission in director Jerry Jameson's Christian-themed adventure. A pair of grifters are drawn into a big con that may be more than they can handle in this sexy thriller. Maya (Bonnie Phillips) and her boyfriend Tony (Thomas Heinze) are a pair of con artists who've been working the same scam for some time; sexy Maya approaches wealthy-looking men in hotel cocktail lounges and persuades them to come up to her room. Tony lifts the men's wallets while Maya toys with them, and he copies the information from their credit cards; Tony returns the cards before the men are the wiser, and Maya conveniently loses interest before things can go too far with her marks. Maya and Tony are making a good living off their version of credit card fraud when Maya tries to pick up Pierce; as it turns out, Pierce is a con artist himself, but rather than turn the tables on the couple, he makes them an offer. Pierce is working with a woman who wants to divorce her rich husband; they need a woman who can seduce the heretofore faithful husband -- and do it on film. Wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper is Back in Action in this likeable testosterone-driven adventure. Piper plays a hard-bitten L.A. detective, whose partner is murdered by drug dealers. To bring the villains to heel, the detective teams up with a martial-arts whiz (Billy Blanks), whose sister has fallen in with the drug lords. After the usual "I don't like you and you don't like me" palaver, Piper and Blanks combine their considerable self-defense skills to kick a lot of LaLa-land butt. The scene is a remote tropical island, where several top swimsuit models converge for a magazine photo shoot, orchestrated by publisher Lee Majors. The girls are lovely, the scenery gorgeous, the weather couldn't be pleasanter. Only one hitch: one by one, the models fall victim to mysterious fatal accidents. In this satirical farce, porn maven Ronny Bartolotti (Robert Loggia) has big plans for his daughter Katrina (Mena Suvari) to go to college and become a lawyer. Katrina, however, has other plans. An aspiring actress, she leaves her high school sex ed class early one day to appear on "The Quaint Show," where host Quaint McPerson (Sally Kellerman) informs an expectant audience that Katrina, a bona fide virgin, has agreed to be deflowered on the show by the appropriately named Tony the Salami. The blessed event is the idea of Joey Quinn (Bob Hoskins), a one-time protégé of Ronny's who is now a rival porn king. Ronny sets out to stop the show, as does Quaint's son, Brian (Gabriel Mann), who once dated Kristina. This sci-fi actioner tells a martial artsy version of a split society during the 21st century. The upperclasses dwell in extravagant shelters below the surface of the earth--which was destroyed by a damaged ozone layer. The surface, of course, is where the poor have been left to fend for themselves. To ensure the safety of those underground, the Controller employs a department of Tracker/Communicators (or T.C.s) to function as security guards/cops. Now that the earth has finally repaired itself, the "bosses" of the shelters plan to get rid of inhabitants on the surface with a doomsday weapon so they can return to the coveted domain. After his partner Zoey (TC200X) is killed and cyberly resurrected as an android, Jason Storm (TC2000) must use his karate expertise to battle the Controller's gangs, both from the surface and the shelters, while he attempts to save the world from nuclear disaster. ~ Kristie Hassen, All Movie Guide

"I'm gonna dance," Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkley) insists in the opening scene of Showgirls, and dance she does. In this quasi-update of All About Eve, Nomi is a drifter whose sole ambition is to headline the "Goddess" topless dance show at the Stardust in Las Vegas. Of course, even Nomi must pay her dues, and she does so at the Cheetah, grinding poles and lap dancing her way to a future. Fortunately, her roommate, Molly, works at the Stardust and invites Nomi to see the show, where she meets Crystal Conners (Gina Gershon, in the Bette Davis role), with whom she immediately forms a love/hate relationship. Nomi soon learns what she must do to get ahead, and the rest of the film documents her cat-like crawl up the showgirl ladder of success. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, (Robocop, Basic Instinct, The Fourth Man), Showgirls was conceived as the first big-budget "adult" film since 1977's Caligula, and the first such production to wear the NC-17 rating; its failure at the box-office discouraged further attempts at large-scale adult productions. ~ Dylan Wilcox, All Movie Guide
