The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) may well qualify as the single most unusual soccer league in the world. A team with no official homeland, no fixed domestic league and players and coaches who reside tens of thousands of miles apart, the PFA nevertheless has transcended all odds, earning the coveted FIFA recognition in 1998 and ascending 70 ranks over the course of several years.
