The crew pilots the Liberator to Centero, where they hope to locate a Federation decoding device. Meanwhile, Supreme Commander Servalan (Jacqueline Pearce, in her first series appearance) dispatches Blake's old enemy, Travis (Stephen Greif, likewise making his series bow), to destroy the resistance movement in any way he chooses. Travis' strategy is one of the oldest in the book: He captures Cally, using her as bait to flush out Blake.

On probation for car theft, young Jimmy Morrow (Peter Miles) tries his best to "go straight", only to be accused of stealing a priceless Spanish cross. Worse still, Jimmy is charged with the murder of the relic's owner, Curtis Runyan (Donald Randolph). Out of sympathy for Jimmy's beleagured parents, Perry (Raymond Burr) agrees to handle the boy's defense. (Trivia note: Peter Miles is the brother of actress Gigi Perreau, who'd played Perry's client in the first-season episode "The Case of the Desperate Daughter".) ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In the darkest days of World War One, four French soldiers (one of them played by a young, pre-Bonanza Pernell Roberts) see a strange light in the sky--whereupon they throw down their weapons and apparently desert their posts. Assigned to defend the soldiers during their court martial, Capt. Emil Tremaine (Bruce Gordon) can neither believe nor sympathize with the defendant's claims that they were motivated to "desert" by circumstances beyond their control. Only on the eve of the soldiers' execution does Tremaine undergo a paranormal experience, proving that there is sometimes a "greater truth" than what meets the eye. (Curiously, "The Vision" is misidentified as the earlier One Step Beyond episode "Emergency Only" by several public-domain DVD merchants). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In dire need of money after being robbed, Bart (Jack Kelly) hires on as boss of a cattle drive. His employer is Abigail Allen (Patricia Breslin), a wide-eyed, seemingly helpless blonde. It is only after two of the drovers die within the first two days of the drive that Bart realizes he's been hoodwinked--and that Abigail is nothing more nor less than a scam artist. Watch for a young Robert Conrad, just before Warner Bros. elevated him to stardom on TV's Hawaiian Eye. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
A worried mother (Grace Albertson) contacts detectives Friday (Jack Webb) and Smith (Ben Alexander) after she finds a hypodermic needle in her teenage son's room. Although the boy sullenly admits that he's shot heroin at least twice in the past few days, he stubbornly refuses to reveal the name of his supplier. The trail of evidence leads to the LA waterfront, where Friday and Smith go undercover as merchant seamen to nab the drug smugglers. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
