And Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) enters unchartered territory (for her) as she assists Sloan (Eric Dane) with a very delicate "corrective" procedure (Hint: the patient is named Donna, but she used to be Daniel). As Izzie (Katherine Heigl) busies herself preparing for a lavish Thanksgiving dinner, both Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) sneak back to the hospital. Upon arrival, Meredith helps Derek (Patrick Dempsey) look after a man who has awakened from a coma after sixteen years--only to determine that he would have been better off remaining asleep. Meanwhile, George (T.R. Knight) is strongarmed into joining his father and brothers on a turkey shoot, with disastrous results. And Bailey (Chandra Wilson) finally realizes that the "Nazi" everyone is always talking about is none other than herself. ER costar Ming-Na is cast as Li Mei Nu, an immigrant woman in search of her missing sister Jiao Wu. The authorities are also interested in catching up with Li Wu, who has apparently abandoned two of her daughters in a squalid apartment. As the SVU detectives pursue the case, it becomes clear that the missing woman was being persecuted by an alien-smuggling gang which uses its "customers" as sweatshop workers and sex slaves. Unfortunately, none of the gang's victims are willing to cooperate with the detectives--especially after Li Mei is savagely beaten on the orders of a corrupt customs attorney. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
