Made for the TNT cable network, The Court Martial of Jackie Robinson concentrates on the wartime service of major league baseball's first black player. Robinson (Andre Braugher), a star athlete at UCLA, is drafted during World War II. He hopes that his academic record will assure him entry into Officers Candidate School, but the racism inherent in the military at the time puts several roadblocks in his way. After finally making OCS, Robinson's belief in himself is strengthened tenfold--to the point that he refuses to bow to the "Jim Crow" laws regarding the seating arrangements on an Army bus, and is subsequently threatened with a court martial. Stan Shaw costars as boxing great Joe Louis, likewise a victim of prejudice during the war years (the script intimates that Louis was more willing to roll with the punches than Robinson). Ruby Dee, who played the ballplayer's wife in the 1950 film The Jackie Robinson Story, is here seen as Robinson's mother. Cmdr. Riker is chosen as the first Federation officer to participate in an exchange program with the Klingons. He is assigned to take charge of the Klingon vessel Pagh, fully intending to take whatever comes with the territory, including a meal of serpent worms and a strange bacteria which seems to have infested the ship. Disaster looms when Riker's new superior, Klingon Captain Kargon, assumes that the bacteria is the handiwork of the Federation and orders Riker to attack and destroy the Enterprise. Together, Henner and Calabro attempt to solve the murder of a stripper. No, the title does not refer to the murderer: "The Ladykillers" is a male stripper club, and the victim is certifiably masculine. Martha Coolidge directed this comedy taking place at fictional Pacific Tech, concerning incoming freshman Mitch (Gabe Jarret), a high school student whose Science Fair project made important inroads into laser beam technology. Mitch has been recruited by famed physics professor Hathaway (William Atherton), who asks Mitch to work in his laboratory. On campus, Mitch becomes roommates with the brilliant Chris Knight (Val Kilmer), legendary as the smartest freshman in the history of the college; but now, as a senior, he is less interested in his studies and more interested in having fun. It turns out that Hathaway is enlisting his students, unbeknownst to them, as a slave labor force to do research in developing a state-of-the-art laser device for the Defense Department (he uses his government grant funds to build a house). The fourth and final season of Knight Rider stars David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a former cop who after being saved from death by a billionaire do-gooder becomes an undercover agent for the Knight Foundation for Law and Order. Michael continues to take his marching orders from the foundation's head man, Devon Ross (Edward Mulhare), even though there is little love lost between the two men. And of course, Michael's greatest ally in his fight against evil is the super-powered, weapon-laden Trans Am car K.I.T.T., who in addition to being rigged with state-of-the-art computer technology also possesses a brain and a voice (provided by William Daniels). Rounding out the cast is Patricia McPherson as K.I.T.T.'s curvaceous mechanic Bonnie Bristow; and a character new to the series, streetwise male mechanic Reginald Cornelius III, aka RC3 (Peter Parros). RC3 is introduced in season four's two-part opener, "Knight of the Juggernaut," in which Mike and K.I.T.T. rescue their new team member from the clutches of his old street gang. In other episodes, Bonnie is among those kidnapped by a disgruntled former government agent-turned-airplane hijacker -- and once she has escaped this dilemma, she poses as a jet setter in order to prevent the U.S. from succumbing to germ warfare. Additional adventures find Michael quitting the foundation after one close call too many; K.I.T.T. turning killer when he is reprogrammed by a mad genius; Michael and K.I.T.T. combining forces to trap a homicidal magician (played by real-life illusionist Lance Burton); our heroes trying to help a down-and-out boxer, in an episode featuring such luminaries as Ken Norton, Jerry Quarry, and Don King; and, in the last episode of the series, Michael, K.I.T.T., et al. endeavoring to get to the bottom of a supposed curse that has claimed the lives of several archeologists. ~ All Movie Guide
