Adventure-loving house painter Mr. Popper (Jim Carrey) contends with the problem of having too many penguins in director Mark S. Waters' adaptation of author Richard Atwater's beloved children's book. Shortly after penning a letter to a team of Arctic explorers, Mr. Popper is surprised to receive a penguin in the mail. Later, after making his mischievous new pal a cozy new home in the freezer, the hapless Mr. Popper comes into possession of a playful female penguin as well. Before long Mr. Popper finds himself surrounded by a growing family of the flightless birds, and begins training them to perform in a traveling show dubbed Popper's Performing Penguins. With each new town the show travels to, pandemonium is quick to follow. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A Brooklyn youth witnesses his mother's brutal murder as a young boy, and grows up to become a vigilante after vowing to track down her killer in this intense psychological thriller. Sean Donovan was just a schoolboy when his family fell victim to a violent carjacking that robbed him of a mother and left his father a broken man. Years later, 17-year-old Sean (Caleb Steinmeyer) hasn't forgotten, and he certainly hasn't forgiven. Sean still visits the local police station frequently, thumbing through mug shots in hopes of finding the face of the man who killed his mother. While his father (Bill Sage) descends into alcoholism, Sean spends his nights prowling the deepest, darkest corners of the city on a grim mission of revenge. When a drug dealer attempts to make a victim out of Sean, the straight-A student unleashes his primal instincts and embraces the rage that has swelled up inside of him for years. Meanwhile, haunted homicide detective Teresa Ames (Zulay Henao) learns that a vigilante is on the loose, and she makes it her mission to end his brutal rampage. Could it be that the same quiet teen she works with by day is the lawless warrior she hunts by night? ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Set against the anti-war protests, rock & roll revolution, and mind-expanding psychedelia of the 1960s, Julie Taymor's hallucinogenic musical follows the arduous journey of star-crossed lovers Jude (Jim Sturgess) and Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood) as they and a small group of musicians are swept up in the raging waters of the volatile counterculture movement. Guided through their journey by a pair known only as Dr. Robert (Bono) and Mr. Kite (Eddie Izzard), Jude and Lucy are eventually forced to find their way back to one another after being split apart by powerful forces beyond their control. The music in the film consists exclusively of songs made popular by the Beatles during the time period depicted in the movie. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Director Brian De Palma turns his lens on the Iraq War with this "fictional documentary" about the experience of U.S. soldiers involved in the conflict. Based on a news item about the rape of an Iraqi schoolgirl by wayward grunts assigned to patrol a checkpoint, the film depicts a scenario not unlike the one De Palma covered in Casualties of War. Shot on high-definition video, Redacted also addresses the ever-evolving manner in which war is covered by the media by focusing on such journalistic innovations as blog coverage and web reporting. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
