A mother mourning the death of her teenage son encounters a terrified adolescent being persued by a relentless psychopath, and gets caught up in a bloody battle for survival in this tense French thriller. It's been a year since Sarah lost her son, and she still thinks about him every day. Then, one night, while driving along a darkened road, Sarah witnesses a young boy dash out of the woods and directly into her path. Despite slamming her breaks and doing her best to avoid him, Sarah hits the boy and races to see if he is injured. His name is Arthur, and though he seems to have avoided any major injuries from the accident, he is deeply shaken after stumbling across a homicidal burglar and being pursued through the moonlit forest. And now the killer is after Sarah, too. With no place to run and no one to call for help, Sarah realizes that their only hope for survival is to fight back with everything they've got, and beat the maniac at his own game. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Acclaimed French filmmaker Eric Rohmer adapts author Honoré d'Urfé's classic 17th century novel to craft this morally complex tale of romance concerning a young couple about to be betrothed, but driven apart by a tragic misunderstanding. Celadon (Andy Gillet) and Astrea (Stéphanie Crayencour) are deeply in love. Each has vowed that they want to spend the rest of their lives together, but their future union is suddenly thrown into question when one day on the riverbank Astrea sees Celadon kissing another woman. Subsequently banning Celadon from her sight forever, the inconsolable Astrea is horrified to discover that Celadon has attempted to take his own life by leaping into the river after learning of the decree; fortunately, he was saved at the last minute by an upper-crust young woman (Véronique Reymond) who wants to possess him. Desperate to win Astrea back, Celadon accepts the advice of a druid priest and his niece, who convince him to dress in drag, pose as a woman, and strike up a friendship with Astrea. Before long, the two are kissing, holding hands, and napping together -- with Astrea little recognizing her new "best friend"'s real gender or identity. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Directors Jean-Marc Barr and Pascal Arnold's sexually political drama Chacun Sa Nuit explores the carnal interdependencies among a host of characters who live in a town in provincial France. At the center of it all is Pierre (Arthur Dupont), a conceited and vain bisexual musician in his late teens who acts as a magnet, to varying degrees, for a whole array of characters -- from his sister, Lucie (Lizzie Brocheré), with whom he has a heated incestuous relationship, to a city councilor with whom he participates in gay orgies. When Pierre turns up dead, Lucie investigates the reasons for his demise and charts the network of sadomasochistic relationships that crisscross the town. Arnold wrote the screenplay, based on an actual series of events; the picture co-stars Pierre Perrier, Nicolas Nollet, and Guillaume Baché. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
