Jealousy and romantic rivalry turns dangerous on the high seas in this drama from Australia. Bull (Ben Oxenbould) is a burly but charismatic surfer who has organized a dream vacation for himself and his friends -- twelve days aboard a yacht headed for the Maldive Islands, where Bull knows some outstanding and little known surf spots. While Bull and his buddies have traveled together before, this time is different -- Toobs (Simon Lyndon) has opted to bring along his girlfriend Alex (Leeana Walsman), and she in turn has invited her friend Sam (Daisy Betts) to tag along. Bull is attracted to Sam, but she's more interested in Rob (Sam Lyndon), whose approach is less aggressive. Bull doesn't care to take no for an answer and when he tries to force himself upon Sam, it leads to a standoff between him and the rest of the passengers. When his friends turn against him, Bull sinks into a rage that turns violent. Caught Inside was the first feature film from director Adam Blaiklock, and received its North American premiere at the 2011 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Three tourists navigating the treacherous swamps of Northern Australia are forced to fight for their lives after a hungry crocodile capsizes their boat and stalks them from the murky depths in this natural horror thriller from directors David Nerlich and Andrew Traucki. It was during a relaxing voyage into the outback that Grace, her boyfriend Adam, and her younger sister Lee decided to venture into an area of the outback rarely seen by tourists. Enlisting the aid of local tour guide Jim, the three thrill seeking travelers eagerly hopped into their boat and set out on what was supposed to be a typical river tour. Later, the leisurely tour becomes a life or death struggle against a deadly predator when the boat capsizes and Jim vanishes into the water without a trace. Stranded in a mangrove swamp without a tour and realizing that a crocodile is circling somewhere beneath the eerily placid surface, Adam pulls Grace up into a tree as Lee clings desperately to the overturned boat. Later, after Lee joins her friends in the trees and Grace realizes that they are completely surrounded by water, the trio quickly realizes that their harrowing experience has only just begun. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A young woman makes a difficult choice and becomes an adult in this Australian melodrama. The young woman is Meg, a small-town girl who has fallen in love with Sam. Their relationship is threatened when Sam decides to head for the big city to work on his career, and she elects to stay in familiar surroundings. After Sam leaves, she finds herself involved with Sam's buddy, Johnny. The trouble really begins when Sam abruptly returns during the town's Anzac Day celebrations. He tries to woo her back, but she publicly rejects Sam. Despite this, Meg is also not sure she wants to stay with Johnny even though a rumor is circulating that she and he are to be married. She is further tempted by Peg, a local waitress with a reputation, who wants Meg to forget about the two suitors and head for the city with her where they can both find better lives. Meanwhile Sam and Johnny have become arch rivals as they vie for her affection. The bored townsfolk continually egg them on. The rivalry climaxes with a dangerous car chase which ends in a draw. Though Sam decides to bow out, the trouble is not yet over and before the evening's end, one of the young men will lose his life protecting the other. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Australia's longest-running sitcom, Hey Dad...! premiered in 1984. Robert Hughes starred as Martin Kelly, a widowed architect who forsook his lucrative business to raise his four kids: Simon (played first by Paul Smith, then by Christopher Mayer), Debbie (Simone Buchanan), and Jenny (Sarah Monahan). The series' "breakthrough" character was Simon's best pal Nudge (Christopher Truswell), who was given most of the big laugh lines. Simultaneously adored and reviled by the Australian viewing public (and, curiously, an enormous success on German television), Hey Dad...! remained on the air for ten years, racking up an astronomical 300 episodes. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Although it is sometimes billed as an animated feature, this children's story is an entirely live-action film, filled with wacky and silly-looking adults for the amusement of the youngsters. It is, however, based on Fatty Finn, a cartoon-strip character popular in 1930s Australia. Set in the earlier part of the century, the story concerns Fatty, a freckled youngster living in a pleasant suburb who feels the need to cut up a bit just to prove himself, and though he ruffles a lot of feathers, the fact that he is basically a good kid eventually settles them down again. The funny-looking paterfamilias, John Finn, is played by the beloved Australian national treasure Bert Newton. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
