The life of one of the most infamous women in early '70s America gets a dramatization in this offbeat period biopic from co-directors Jeffrey Friedman and Robert Epstein. In the Florida suburbs, circa 1970, Linda Boreman (Amanda Seyfried) is an ordinary and unremarkable young woman who moved back in with her parents (Robert Patrick and Sharon Stone) a year or so earlier, following an unplanned pregnancy. One night on the town, she crosses paths with Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard) a local bar and restaurant owner who sees Linda as an opportunity; he soon wins her over as a girlfriend, and not long after, the two are married. Within a couple of years, Chuck shoots a private stag film of Linda performing oral sex on a partner, and decides to show it to Gerry Damiano (Hank Azaria), an up-and-coming porn director with ties to the Mafia. Damiano is so impressed by the footage that he immediately decides to cast Linda in his new picture, the hardcore comedy Deep Throat, which becomes the single most lucrative adult film of all time and turns the young woman -- renamed Linda Lovelace -- into a household name. The film then flashes forward to six years later, when Linda authors a shocking tell-all book about what really happened when the cameras weren't rolling; she describes the sadistic abuse that she endured at the hands of Traynor and a series of increasingly futile attempts to escape from his clutches, and claims that she was coerced to appear in the movie. The media then turns Lovelace -- who became a Long Island housewife named Linda Marciano -- into a feminist icon and a crusader against domestic violence and the enslavement of the porn industry. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

When James Franco took a gig on General Hospital, he brought along a documentary film crew. This film, however, is not a documentary about his time shooting the perennial soap opera, but rather an avant-garde experimental exercise. Franco and co-director Ian Olds use the footage that crew captured, but employ voice-over and a number of different post-production effects in order to create a psychological thriller about an actor named James Franco who is slowly losing his mind while filming a soap opera. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Four college coeds find their Florida spring break taking an unexpectedly violent turn after falling in with a local gangster in this surreal black comedy from Harmony Korine (Mister Lonely, Trash Humpers). Left broke and alone on campus as their classmates head to Florida for some fun in the sun, coeds Candy (Vanessa Hudgens), Brit (Ashley Benson) and Cotty (Rachel Korine) steal a car, rob a local diner with plastic guns, and head south with their devoutly religious girlfriend Faith (Selena Gomez) in tow. But when the girls are thrown in jail following a police raid on a beachfront apartment, it looks like the party is over until wild-eyed drug dealer Alien (James Franco) inexplicably posts their bail. Sensing danger, Faith boards a bus bound for school as her three friends fall into a dangerous cycle of drugs and debauchery. Later, a scary run-in with Alien's bitter rival prompts yet another of the girls to hightail it back to campus, leaving the remaining two to embrace their dangerous new lifestyle with reckless abandon. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

James Franco writes, directs, produces, and stars in this biopic based on the life of celebrated American poet Hart Crane, and based on the book by author Paul Mariani. A man who used the English language like an artist uses a brush, Crane traveled the world in search of inspiration. But his passion burned too bright, setting the stage for a tragedy that would rob the poetry world of a vital and brilliant voice. Michael Shannon and Stacey Miller co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

In September 2008, actor James Franco was a guest host on the popular television comedy series Saturday Night Live. Franco was fascinated by the process in which a 90-minute broadcast was pulled together from scratch, and he approached SNL producer Lorne Michaels with the idea of making a behind-the-scenes documentary following the production of a typical episode, from first meeting with the writers to the final live broadcast. Michaels gave his permission, and in Saturday Night Franco and a small camera crew are on hand as John Malkovich joins the cast for the December 6, 2008 broadcast. Saturday Night features interviews with members of the cast, writing staff, and production team as well as a fly-on-the-wall view as an episode of Saturday Night Live takes shape; the writers pitch ideas to Michaels and Malkovich, the cast works to flesh out the sketches and make them work in front of an audience, and the crew tries to make it all look good on a tight schedule with an immovable deadline. James Franco's first feature film as a director, Saturday Night received its world premiere at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Actor James Franco wrote and directed this independent drama about two siblings who are by turns raised up and brought down by the bonds of family. Max (James Franco) boasts a genius level IQ, and his brother Adam (Matt Bell) is nearly as bright, but while Adam has the common sense and ambition to make something of his gifts, Max's greatest talent seems to be getting into scrapes and disappointing those around him. Adam has a successful practice as a doctor in New York City, but when Max foolishly tries to swindle some well-connected drug dealers, he has to leave the Big Apple, and somehow persuades his brother to take him to California. On the West Coast, Adam is able to use his medical background to get a lucrative new job, and Max fast talks his way onto the staff of a computer firm. However, Max's inability to stay on the straight and narrow and face his responsibilities quickly resurfaces, and when he starts using crystal meth, he loses his job. Adam also experiences a stretch of bad luck and loses his job, and as a sense of desperation takes hold, he starts joining Max in his drug fueled excesses, leading both down a road to destruction. Good Time Max received its world premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
