A young man searches for a part of his history during a remarkable voyage across the Himalayas in this drama from filmmaker Siddharth Anand Kumar. Orphaned in his youth, Tenzin (Tenzin Younden) was raised in Dharamsala, a city in India dominated by expatriates from Tibet; twenty-something Tenzin feels he doesn't know his true nationality, even though he's aware of his ethnic roots. Unable to ask his parents about his past, Tenzin sets out to uncover his history by traveling to Tibet, even though this means skirting the law. Tenzin heads East on his motorcycle and is befriended by a band of nomads and bohemians, whose number includes his own stepmother. Tenzin enjoys a feeling of community with his fellow travelers, but as they try to cross the border into the land of their ancestors, they find themselves in greater danger than they imagined. Set in the present day, director Terry Gilliam's fantastical morality tale follows the traveling show of the mysterious Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) -- a man who once won a bet with the Devil himself, and possesses the unique ability to guide the imagination of others. Many centuries ago, Dr. Parnassus won immortality in a bet that found the malevolent Mr. Nick (Tom Waits) coming up short. While few would be foolish enough to try their luck against the powers of darkness a second time, Dr. Parnassus did precisely that -- this time trading his mortality for youth on the understanding that his firstborn would become the property of Mr. Nick when the child reaches his or her 16th birthday.
Flash-forward to the present day, and Dr. Parnassus' daughter, Valentina (Lily Cole), is about to celebrate her sweet sixteen. Dr. Parnassus is desperate to save his little girl from her fiery fate, so when Mr. Nick arrives to collect, he senses the good doctor's malaise and cooks up a wager too enticing to refuse: Dr. Parnassus and Mr. Nick will each compete to seduce five souls, with possession of Valentina going to whoever manages to complete the task first. As the competition begins to heat up, a mysterious man named Tony (Heath Ledger) appears. Could Tony be the one man capable of helping Dr. Parnassus win the competition and save Valentina? While the sudden death of prominent Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus player Heath Ledger in January of 2008 left Gilliam and company scrambling to find a means of salvaging the film -- which was already well into principal photography at the time -- the cavalry soon arrived in the form of Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell, who each serve as alternate-dimension versions of Tony when the character crosses through a paranormal mirror. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The Bollywood romantic drama Kya Love Story Hai witnesses the complications that befall Arjun (Tusshar Kapoor), a former architecture student who sank into a ne'er-do-well lifestyle and now whiles away his free hours indulging in drunken revelry and fritting away what little money he has with his libidinous buddies. His life turns a sharp corner when he falls headfirst in love with the gorgeous Kajal Mehra (Ayesha Takia). Alas, she insists on courtship and marriage to a fiscally affluent suitor, and this Arjun is not. Complicating matters is the fact that Arjun feels too cowardly to ever confess his feelings to the young woman. Saddened, he heads off to make a name for himself, but in the mean time, Kajal meets and becomes engaged to another man. Upon appointing Kesu as his chief lieutenant, Langda's pride is damaged so deeply that he sets into motion a devious plan designed to convince Omi that his beautiful wife Dolly is having an illicit affair with his newly appointed strong-arm, Kesu.
