Miles O'Keeffe Movies
While attending Air Force Academy Prep School, actor Miles O'Keeffe transferred to Mississippi State so he could play football, but a hand injury put an end to his gridiron activities. He then studied at the University of the South, where he earned a BA in psychology; this led to a job as counselor at Pennsylvania State Prison. When he heard that movie producer/director John Derek was planning to put together a new Tarzan film, the 6'3" O'Keeffe sent his photo to Derek. As a result, O'Keeffe was teamed with Bo Derek in 1981's Tarzan the Ape Man, a universally panned production that nearly ended the aspiring actor's career before it began. He managed, however, to survive this experience, going on to carve a niche for himself in such sword-and-sorcery efforts as Ator (1984) and Sword of the Valiant (1984). Still working in films into the 1990s, Miles O'Keeffe starred as John Smith in the direct-to-video Pocahontas: The Legend (1995). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie GuideJohn Derek directed this 1981 vanity production of the Tarzan tale as a bon-bon for his wife Bo Derek. The Bo Derek version answers any questions viewers may have had concerning Tarzan and Jane's sex life. The film begins as Jane (Bo Derek)'s father Parker (Richard Harris) heads to the African interior on the pretext of searching for hidden jungle secrets. He is actually looking for Tarzan (Miles O'Keeffe), whom he plans to kidnap and bring back to England dead or alive. Jane accompanies her manic father, along with his unassuming assistant Holt (John Phillip Law). Realizing that Parker is on his trail, Tarzan kidnaps Jane and it is love at first sight. Parker forges on, trying to capture Tarzan and save his daughter. But Tarzan finally saves the day when Jane is kidnapped by a band of African mud worshippers, who are preparing her to be sacrificed to the gods. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

The dialogue in this "sword and sorcery" film argues for a return to the silent screen as Ator, son of Thorn, fights off giant spiders and the evil Black Knights and chases after a comely, blond maiden, but not at the same time. Scripted lines like "not to go the maternity route" in a medieval setting are comparable to whiskering up the Mona Lisa and not noticing the difference. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

- Miles O'Keeffe, Sabrina Siani, (more)

But lo-and-behold, the Knight's magic is so great that he puts head and body back together again and then further challenges Gawain with a riddle that must be solved within the next 12 months or Gawain is dead. Lucky for Gawain, the riddle involves several rescues of the charming Princess Linet (Cyrielle Claire) -- but how will he manage to outfox the Green Knight and the evil Morgan La Fay (Emma Sutton)? ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Whether you asked for a sequel to Ator the Fighting Eagle or not, we offer you Ator, the Invincible. Miles O'Keeffe, the much-maligned star of Bo Derek's Tarzan picture, is back as pumped-up prehistoric warrior Ator. This time he must save the world from the "Geometric Nucleus", a sort of cro-magnon doomsday device. You can't blast Ator back to the Stone Age because he's already there, so Ator had better defuse the weapon before there's no there there (to paraphrase Gertrude Stein). As goofy as this low-budget adventure flick is, it's a decided improvement over Ator the Fighting Eagle. Check this one out (under its original title or its alternate cognomens Blade Master and Cave Dwellers) and you're in for a fun evening--if not a totally believable one. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Not to be confused with the 1994 exchange-of-murders melodrama Dead On, this 1991 film was originally shipped out under the title Relentless 2: Dead On. You may recall that in the first Relentless in 1989, Judd Nelson starred as a serial killer. Nelson isn't around for the sequel, though two of his near-victims, a mother (Meg Foster) and her son (Leo Rossi), make return appearances. Relentless 2 elaborates on the possible aftereffects of Nelson's psychotic behavior, as manifested in young Rossi. Could the kid have learned too much about the inner workings of a murderer's mind? The premise is a workable one, and the film makes the most of it, with several genuinely frightening setpieces. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The gang swipes a $2 million payroll from mountain loggers and kills a lot of people (including Eli), only to have the vengeful, crossbow-toting Paradine and local sheriff Mantee (Fred Williamson) come after them.
