In August of 1977, police officer Dennis Hill was killed in the line of duty. Told in flashback, Heaven's Heroes reconstructs Hill's life, his dedication to duty and his love of family. Of paramount importance in Hill's life is his religion, and it is this strength of conviction that enables his wife and loved ones to carry on after his death. David Ralphe stars as Hill, with Heidi Vaughan as his wife. Heaven's Heroes was produced by Paulist Productions, the firm responsible for the weekly anthology Insight. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In an insipid variation of boy meets truck, Buddy McCoy (Terence Knox) wins a Mack truck in a contest and leaves his live-in woman behind to hit the road and find himself. Along the way, he hangs out for awhile with another trucker, has a few sexual adventures, and gets into a brawl or two -- but not with any dash of humor or originality. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

The year is 1997. Manhattan Island is now a heavily guarded maximum-security prison, where the scum of the earth have converged. When Air Force One crash-lands in Manhattan, the president (Donald Pleasence) is held hostage by its denizens. One-eyed mercenary Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is strong-armed into rescuing the chief executive. He is aided, not always willingly, by a tough gal (Adrienne Barbeau) and a manic cab driver (Ernest Borgnine). Escape from New York was followed by a sequel of sorts in 1996, Escape From L.A., again starring Kurt Russell. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

- Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, (more)
