As one of the all-time staples of the operatic canon, Gaetano Donizetti's 1833 Lucrezia Borgia dramatizes the tale of the titular Renaissance woman (and pope's daughter) who participated in a host of wicked and depraved crimes. The Teatro Donizetti mounted this late 2007 production of the said work, starring Dimitra Theodossiou in the title role, plus Roberto Di Biasio as Gennaro, Enrico Giuseppe Iori as Don Alfonso, Duke of Ferrara and Nidia Palacios as Maffio Orsini. The Orchestra and Chorus of the Bergamo Musica Festival Gaetano Donizetti provide musical accompaniment, with Tiviano Severini conducting and Fabio Tartari serving as chorus master. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
