At first sight, actor Nicholas D'Agosto may give one the impression of a young Robert De Niro -- confident and charismatic seemingly beyond his years -- and with an impressive list of credits, the frequent television actor may be well on his way to becoming as versatile as the seasoned screen veteran himself. It was through competitive speech tournaments and improv classes in grade school that the Omaha native first discovered his passion for acting, and after winning a role in Alexander Payne's critically acclaimed comedy Election while still a senior at Creighton Preparatory School, D'Agosto knew for certain he had found his calling. But while acting was a top priority, D'Agosto was determined to finish his education before committing himself entirely to the craft. Over the course of the next four years, he studied history and theater at Marquette University in Milwaukee, during which time he performed in numerous plays in addition to helping originate the Milwaukee avant-garde acting troupe Theater X. It was toward the end of D'Agosto's stint at Marquette University that he decided to study poverty and race in the Dominican Republic for a semester, and after graduating cum laude, the aspiring star set his sights on Los Angeles.In the following years, D'Agosto landed roles on some of the small screen's biggest dramas, including ER, Six Feet Under, House, and Without a Trace. In 2007, he could be seen in on the big screen in no less than three films: Rocket Science, Drive-Thru, and LA Blues. Much to Alex's surprise, the couple does not phone the police, but becomes increasingly fascinated with the boy as a result of his resemblance to their dead son Timmy. As delusion begins to take hold, the grieving couple to eventually comes to believe that Alex really is Timmy. Written and directed by Ian Gurvitz, the comedy/drama LA Blues follows a police detective who attempts to unravel why a man has attempted to kill himself. Soon she interviews a man who knew what was going on in the man's life, and eventually the officer and the audience learn about the problems of a group of male friends. Jeffrey Blitz's seriocomedy Rocket Science proves that many a handicap can be overcome, no matter how daunting the obstacle at hand may initially seem. Newcomer Reece Thompson plays Hal Hefner, a 15-year-old high-school student with a minor yet socially alienating (and painful) disability: he stutters uncontrollably. Determined to work through the problem, Hal opts for an extreme route -- he joins the school debating team, which sends him on a headfirst plunge into breakneck speech competitions -- and offers a much-needed boost toward correcting the problem. In Season 2 of the superhero saga, the nascent heroes learn more about their similarly superpowered families and ancestors. Indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) and her family are forced to go into hiding in California in order to escape the clutches of the Company, an organization that tracks and captures superheroes. While her father, Noah (Jack Coleman), a former employee of the Company, insists she not do anything to attract attention, Claire finds herself attracted to a fellow student (Nicholas D'Agosto) with a superpowered secret of his own. After barely managing to avert a nuclear explosion in Season 1's finale, Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is presumed dead by his grieving family, only to awaken in Ireland with no idea who he is or how he got there. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) accidentally time travels to 17th-century feudal Japan, where he encounters his childhood hero, the legendary swordsman Takezo Kensei. But Hiro's joy is short-lived: He discovers that not only is Kensei a white foreigner (David Anders) living in Japan, but he's also a drunken coward who needs Hiro's help in order to achieve his destiny. Hiro eventually returns to the present and learns his father (George Takei) has been killed, the first in a series of murders of superheroes who had been active a generation ago. As the murders continue, it becomes clear that this killing spree is an act of revenge connected to a deadly virus that could spell disaster for humanity. Nicholas D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olsen headline this teen comedy concerning two high-school football players who attempt to avoid another summer at football camp by becoming cheerleaders.
