When a wealthy friend of the San Francisco police commissioner reports that his dog is missing, a disgruntled Ironside (Raymond Burr) passes the responsibility of locating the pooch to his assistants Ed (Don Galloway) and Eve (Barbara Anderson). Meanwhile, Mark (Don Mitchell) finds out that the lost dog is in the hands of some two-bit thieves who've decided to "achieve greatness" by kidnapping the pets of the rich and famous--and they're not above eliminating anyone who gets in their way. Jesse Royce Landis guest stars as Chief Ironside's idomitable Aunt Victoria, who insists that her nephew investigate the disappearance of one of her bridge-club members, a Mrs. McPhee. Victoria suspects that the missing woman's self-effacing husband Harvey (Arthur Hill) has murdered his wife. When Ironside (Raymond Burr) seems unwilling to cooperate, Victoria and her septugenarean friends (among them Ellen Corby, aka "Grandma Walton") decide to turn detective themselves and solve the mystery. This not-altogether-serious episode would seem to be a dry run for the later crime series The Snoop Sisters, which starred Helen Hayes and Mildred Natwick. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Why is Herman (Fred Gwynne) prancing around the mansion singing "Shuffle Off to Buffalo"? Well, it seems that he's in line for a big promotion, which he will receive if he relocates to Buffalo with his family. Unfortunately, Eddie (Butch Patrick) has just been made captain of his high school baseball team and doesn't want to move. Ultimately, Herman decides to remain in Mockingbird Heights--just as Grandpa (Al Lewis) has made arrangements to have the Munster Mansion demolished! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Reba Burgess (Audrey Totter) has managed to keep her late husband's mining company alive by securing big bank loans, using a shoebox full of uncut diamonds as collateral. All this may come to an end when Carl Bascom (Jeff Corey) appears out of nowhere, claiming to have a written agreement that gives him half of the mine. Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) enters the scene when Bascom is killed with a weapon owned by Reba. This episode is topheavy with familiar character actors in the supporting cast, including Elisha Cook Jr. (The Maltese Falcon), Bruce Bennett (Treasure of the Sierra Madre), Ben Johnson (The Last Picture Show) and Roy Barcroft (who showed up in virtually every Republic serial and western ever made!) ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A sweet but scatterbrained old lady named Nora Mae Quincy (Lenore Shanewise) comes to Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) with the slightly garbled story that her employer George Gordon (Edward Norris is a murderer--and will soon murder again. Nora is the nurse of Gordon's second wife Louise (Susan Dorn), whom Nora suspects is being poisoned by Gordon, offering as evidence the fact that man's first wife also died from an "accidental" poisoning. As it turns out, however, it is Nora who is accused of the second Mrs. Gordon's murder--but that doesn't necessarily mean that she's been framed by her boss. Based on a 1951 novel by Perry Mason creator Erle Stanley Gardner, this episode would be refilmed in 1964 as "The Case of the Woeful Widower". ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
