This youth-oriented sci-fi adventure concerns four astronauts who travel to the Planet of Eternal Night. A young scientist named Daniel (Guillermo Murray) and his girlfriend Silvia (Adriana Roel) lead the mission, and take along a boxer and his manager for comic relief. The planet's occupants live underground because the surface is blindingly bright and hot, and they are ruled by The Protector (Jose Galvez), who wants to blow up the Earth with a death ray. The usual cartoonish adventures ensue, until Daniel and Silvia manage to save the day. Director Alfredo B. Crevenna's film looks like a 1930s Flash Gordon serial rather than a product of the '60s, but it was popular enough to bring the characters back for a sequel, El Planeta de los Mujeres Invasoras. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

A few ostensibly ribald scenarios from this routine musical comedy by Rogelio A. Gonzalez might border on the offensive to some viewers. The trite storyline features three different men whose womanizing is concentrated on the many fairs held throughout Mexico at different times in the year. Each of the men has one particular lover at the site of each of the fairs, and the trio simply make the annual rounds, going from one "fair" lady to the next. The talent of popular stars Javier Solis and Alfredo Sadel is a plus though no one in the cast can overcome the script. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Que Lindo Es Michoacan (Beautiful Michoacan) is a showcase for popular Latin-American recording artist Tito Guizar. The story is perfunctory at best, forgettable at worst: Guizar plays a wealthy rake whose "love 'em and leave 'em philosophy" has left a trail of broken hearts behind him. Despite his questionable track record, Guizar becomes the object of the affections of a beautiful heiress (Gloria Marin). Naturally, Guizar falls deeply in love in spite of himself -- singing and guitar-playing all along the way. Overproduced in the best Hollywood fashion, Que Lindo es Michoacan was one of Mexico's most popular films of 1944. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Mexican child star Evita Munos plays the title character in La Pequena Madracita (The Little Mother). When their mother can no longer care for them, Chachita (Munos) and Pepe (Narciso Busquets) are left in the care of their mom's stepsister. Chachita immediately takes charge of things, acting as surrogate mother for the stepsister's own baby. Things take a lachrymose turn when Chachita's mother dies, but happiness is at hand in the form of the kids' ex-alcoholic father. A charming child's-eye view of the world, La Pequena Madracita could have benefited from a little editorial trimming. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
