Gioachino Rossini adapted his 1817 opera La Cenerentola from the classic fairy tale Cinderella, but famously insisted on removing all supernatural elements from the narrative; the resultant work arguably attained as much popularity as anything else he had done. That opera comes to life in this 2008 stage production by the Gran Teatre del Liceu; it stars American performer Joyce di Donato in the title role (a character also known as Angelina); Juan Diego Flórez as Don Ramiro and David Menéndez as Dandini.
