Several months after undergoing oral surgery requiring her to be sedated, Connie Loftus (Michele Greene) discovers that she's pregnant. This outrages her husband Tom (William R. Moses), who has had a vasectomy and is in no way capable of producing sperm. It turns out that Connie was but one of several unsuspecting women who have been assaulted in their sleep by rapacious dentist Dr. Roger Nolten (Joe Penny). Unfortunately, Connie's efforts to prosecute Nolten are stymied when he insists that he and Connie had been consentual lovers--and there's nothing she can do to prove otherwise! An intrepid female cop named Susan Saroyan (Lynda Carter) figures into the outcome of this compelling tale of trust betrayed and a woman's battle against the "good ol' boy" network. In this sequel to the first-season episode "Fear Not", Randy Travis and Paul Wittenburg) return respectively in the roles of taciturn small-towner Wayne and his mentally challenged brother Joey. Having previously witness a miracle--to wit, Monica (Roma Downey) revealing herself as an angel--Wayne and Joey are exploited by a phony preacher named Charles (William R. Moses), who is using a feather from Monica's Heavenly dove as an icon to collect donations. It so happens that Charles is Wayne and Joey's brother, and that Wayne had himself once been Charles' con-artist partner. Though Wayne is determined to put an end to Charles' life of crime, it is Joey who ultimately resolves the problem (though Monica is once again obliged to put in a last-act appearance!) ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Bonnie (Alicia Witt) and Hillary (Renee Humphrey) are two seemingly average California teenagers who have some very heavy emotional baggage to lug around. Bonnie was abandoned by her mother years ago, and Hillary was sexually assaulted by her father, who is now behind bars. Bonnie and Hillary have enough in common that they strike up a fast friendship and head out one day in search of "fun." However, by the end of the day, their pursuit of happiness has taken them from typically meanspirited teenage pranks, such as dropping pennies onto cars from an overpass, to an abrupt and shocking extreme -- the murder of an elderly woman who has done them no harm. Jane (Leslie Hope), a social worker assigned to work with Bonnie and Hillary, finds it all but impossible to get through to them and is dealing with her own precarious emotional state (which she treats with alcohol), while tabloid journalist John (William R. Moses) tries to wring a juicy, sensational story out of the girls' crime spree. Meanwhile, Bonnie and Hillary wonder out loud about their sudden "celebrity" and who will play them in the inevitable TV movie about their crimes. Alicia Witt and Renee Humphrey both won awards for their performances at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival, though the film didn't find a distributor until 1996, after the release of the thematically similar Heavenly Creatures. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Simpson-obsessed talk host is murdered, actress Amy Steel is accused of murder. Mason (Raymond Burr) sets about to prove her innocence. When first telecast on May 6, 1992, The Case of the Reckless Romeo was advertised with the tag line "Geraldo gets killed!" The first "Perry Mason" TV movie of the 1992-93 season, The Case of the Heartbroken Bride was the 23rd such production. The wedding of pop star Heather McAdam is disrupted by a drunken interloper. When the party crasher is murdered, Heather is nabbed for the killing. Among the special guest suspects are Ronny Cox, Linda Blair and Diane Baker. Stephen Stills, of Crosby Stills, Nash and Young, has a cameo. As always, Perry Mason is played by Raymond Burr. As Perry Mason, Burr matches wits with prosecuting attorney Scott Baio (yes, that Scott Baio) in seeing to it that the truth will out.
